Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated Marketing Coordinator for our university's sustainability department. The ideal candidate will independently handle a wide range of professional tasks, leveraging specialized skills and knowledge with minimal supervision. In direct support of the Director of Sustainability, the Marketing Coordinator will create awareness through strategic event planning, enhance student success, generate compelling content, and spearhead fundraising efforts. Additionally, this role will embody and promote the values of our native Hawaiian place of learning, ensuring these principles are integrated into all marketing activities.

PRIMARY DUTIESWork with the Office of Sustainable Operations and Planning (SOP) to develop, coordinate, and implement marketing campaigns to promote current and future sustainability initiatives.Assist in developing and implementing the SOP marketing strategy.Ensure that all marking efforts serve immediate and long-term sustainability goals by identifying and executing improvements for the process, content, and lead generation.Prepare marketing activity report and metrics for marketing.Compile market research, forecasts, competitor analysis, campaign results, and consumer trends.Build knowledge and education regularly through workshops, research, and community involvement, and share best practices and local marketing tactics with team members.Work with University of Hawaii Foundation to create, implement, and manage fundraising plan.ADDITIONAL DUTIESIncrease awareness for Photovoltaic (PV) Buildout ProjectDevelop a marketing strategy and campaign for PVPromote the Green Revolving FundEngage with faculty, staff, students, and community organizations to promote the projects and the projected benefitsDevelop an incentive plan to reward staff for participating in sustainability initiativesSupport SOP in developing actionable recommendations for the Green Purchasing PolicySustainable marketing materialsParticipate in Student Sustainability Council at the University of Hawaii RIOOn-campus & off-campus presentationsUHSOP-sponsored eventsUH Earth Week eventsCampus toursCollege and career fairsUHSOP student programmingSocial Media and Content CreationDevelop informational and educational materials to promote SOPDevelop analysis of the sustainability social media landscapeShort list local content creators for potential collaborationsFundraisingLook for grant opportunities to provide additional financial support to outreach and engagement initiativesCurate list of networking events to promote and solicit partnershipsCreate reward system for donorsOther duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsPossession of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, or other related fields.One (1) year of experience in marketing or communications at a university.Ability to communicate in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.Experience in marketing coordination or similar role.Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing.Experience with Excel/Powerpoint/Word or Google equivalent apps.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Knowledge of basic quantitative data analysis methods and ability to organize datasets.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Possesses strong organizational skills.Desirable QualificationsAbility to conduct independent research.Ability to design infographics and other promotional materials.Interest in concepts of sustainability, policy, management, and renewable energy.To Apply:Click on the "Apply" button on the top right corner of the screen to complete an application and attach required documents.
