The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is the premier nonprofit association serving the volunteer fire, emergency medical, and rescue services for more than 45 years. Today, the NVFC serves as the voice of over one million volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel on the national level and provides valuable training, programs, and other resources.The NVFC seeks a skilled, highly-motivated, full-time Digital Media Manager to drive the organization’s digital presence to new heights. This position is remote but will ideally be based in the Washington, DC, area near core staff and NVFC functions. This position is an integral part of the team and will support the Chief of Communications in conducting the organization’s outreach and marketing efforts, with a primary focus on digital media. The Digital Media Manager will be responsible for implementing the organization’s digital media strategy, managing social media accounts, writing and editing content, developing and managing marketing campaigns, tracking and analyzing performance metrics, maintaining web sites, working with various stakeholders and contacts, responding to inquiries, coordinating with vendors and partners, assisting with programs and projects, and other duties as assigned.Exceptional attention to detail is required along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will work well in a small staff, team-oriented, virtual environment and will demonstrate initiative, a desire to grow and learn, possess great organizational skills, and will take ownership over their assigned project areas. Fire service experience preferred.Key Responsibilities:Strategy Development:

Create and execute comprehensive digital media strategies that align with the organization’s goals and target audience.Social Media Management:

Oversee the organization’s social media presence across multiple platforms (e.g., Facebook, X, LinkedIn), including content scheduling, community engagement, and growth strategies.Web Site Management:

Assist the Chief of Communications in maintaining and updating the organization’s web sites.Content Creation:

Develop and manage content for social media, web sites, enewsletters, and other digital platforms, ensuring it is engaging, relevant, and on-message. Coordinate with outside vendors including graphic designer when necessary.Newsletter and Eblast Creation:

Write content for the NVFC’s enewsletters and eblasts and use email marketing platform to format and distribute to NVFC’s audience.Campaign Management:

Plan, execute, and optimize digital marketing and advertising campaigns to maximize ROI and achieve stated objectives.Analytics and Reporting:

Track, analyze, and report on digital media performance using tools like social media insights, Google Analytics, and other metrics. Provide actionable recommendations for improvement.Collaboration:

Work closely with Chief of Communications, Program Managers, and other staff to ensure cohesive messaging and effective digital campaigns. Coordinate with corporate sponsors, members, board of directors, industry media, and other stakeholders on various projects and outreach campaigns.Trend Monitoring:

Stay up to date with the latest digital media trends, tools, and technologies to keep the organization’s digital presence competitive and innovative.Receipt Tracking:

Use the NVFC’s financial systems to process and code invoices/receipts for advertising and marketing campaigns.Additional Support:

Other duties include administrative support such as answering phones and taking meeting minutes, attending tradeshows and events, maintaining media lists, and assisting with other projects and activities as necessary.Qualifications/Skills/Competencies Required:Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.Experience:

Proven experience (3+ years) as a Digital Media Manager, Communications Manager, or similar role, with a strong portfolio of successful digital campaigns and content management.Skills:

Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms; excellent writing and communication skills; a keen eye for detail; highly organized; ability to present information persuasively and concisely to different audiences; ability to work well under pressure, determine priorities, and make decisions; excellent customer service ethic and responsiveness; ability to work both as part of a team and independently; and understanding of an association/nonprofit environment, strategic planning, market research, marketing and communications, and product development.Technical Knowledge:

Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other productivity tools), social media platforms, social media management tools, web analytics, content management systems including WordPress, basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), and email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact).Analytical Abilities:
