An

Account Director (AD)

delivers innovative and creative ideas that capture the attention of press. They have a strong track record with disruptive PR campaigns, leveraging an insightful creative idea paired with a modern communications approach, influencer strategies and a proven track record with media. The Account Director has experience working with senior level executives to tackle business and brand challenges and has a history of developing insight-led campaigns that generated culturally relevant work and national press coverage. The Account Director is an inspirational force that galvanizes teams. Having pre-established media relationships at national media outlets, they are a steward of the news and have a proven track record securing press coverage, experience developing narratives and an understanding of how to curate compelling stories.

This is a full-time exempt position based in [MullenLowe Office Location] and reports to the VP, Group Account Director. Depending on the team and client need, this position will manage, mentor, and guide AAE(s), AE(s), SAE(s) and/or AS(s).

Responsibilities

Lead multiple clients simultaneously and overall client relationships

Lead planning, development and execution of public relations activities in accordance with the client's objectives and budget

Manage client and program budgets

Develop a deep knowledge of client's business to anticipate client needs

Lead client meetings and brainstorms

Provide expertise in media relations, influencer relations, event management and social media programming

Maintain and nurture robust network of press contacts

Manage measurement tools and reporting

Participate in and help new business presentations when called upon bringing fresh new ideas and strategic public relations campaigns

Effectively and appropriately execute and delegate on client accounts to ensure goals are accomplished

Understand the client’s needs and grow the relationship through exceptional results

Lead by example, upholding MullenLowe’s core values and act as a mentor and guide to other members of the public relations team

Contributes to and helps cultivate a creative environment

Maintain and educate public relations team surrounding effective and strategic public relations writing and messaging practices

Provide exceptional guidance and mentorship by managing groups of direct reports

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications preferred; or equivalent work experience

Experience:

8+ years of experience in an agency, start up, client-side role or equivalent experience in a relevant creative industry

2+ years in a supervisory role

Experience managing multiple accounts, effectively managing team members, including proper delegation of work

Familiarity with key tools that are used in the PR industry required

Knowledge and practical application of media relations, influencer relations, social media, and/or PR measurement practices and tools

Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting all basic and advanced press materials

Experience interacting with executive level clients

Big brand or relevant creative industry experience

Display a strong vision for disruptive contemporary storytelling

Possess financial understanding of budgeting

The salary range for this position is $100-$125K. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience and qualifications.
