Reports To: Design DirectorPosition Summary

The Senior Designer plays a key role in the design team by developing innovative and market-relevant products across all apparel categories. This role requires a deep understanding of fashion trends, garment construction, and technical design. The Senior Designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensure adherence to brand standards, and drive the seasonal design direction. Additionally, this position involves mentoring junior designers and staying abreast of industry advancements to maintain a competitive edge. The Senior Designer is pivotal in shaping the creative vision and ensuring the delivery of high-quality apparel that meets market demands and brand objectives.

Position Responsibilities-Essential

Design Leadership:

Lead the design process across all apparel categories, ensuring innovative and market-relevant products.

Vision and Planning:

Set the vision and plan for all design presentations, ensuring clear communication of concepts and alignment with overall brand strategy.

Hands-On Design:

Actively participate in designing garments, creating detailed sketches, tech packs, and specifications for prototypes and production.

Trend Analysis:

Conduct market research and analyze trends to inform design direction.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with project management and directly work with clients to ensure cohesive product development and meet client expectations.

Work closely with merchandising, production, and marketing teams to ensure cohesive product development.

Development:

Oversee fitting sessions with a keen eye for detail, making necessary adjustments to designs to ensure optimal aesthetics, functionality, and cost-efficiency

Quality Assurance:

Ensure designs meet brand standards and align with seasonal themes and collections.

Industry Awareness:

Stay updated with industry trends, new materials, and innovative design techniques.

Versatility:

Demonstrate versatile design skills across various apparel categories, with a particular strength in outerwear.

Communication Skills:

Utilize excellent communication skills to liaise with factories, ensuring accurate execution of designs and maintaining strong relationships with manufacturing partners.

Mentorship:

Mentor and guide junior designers, providing feedback and fostering a creative environment.

Essential Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in apparel design, with a strong portfolio in outerwear.

Proficient in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design etc.).

Excellent understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and manufacturing processes.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Effective public speaking, phone/email communication and presentation skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work in a cross functional team environment.

Proactive on problem solving and resolution oriented.

Beneficial Skills and Experience

MBA degree in fashion.

Experience with sustainable and eco-friendly design practices.

Knowledge of 3D design tools.

Strong network within the fashion industry.
