Job Summary:The Office of Strategic Communication, the central communications and marketing department for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is seeking a skilled manager to guide photography and video strategy.

The Visuals Director will manage a team of photographers, video producers and student employees who create internal and external visual communications products to tell the story of the University of Wisconsin-Madison while enhancing our institution's brand and reputation.

This position will lead the strategic direction, planning and implementation of the team's activities and will play an important role in supporting it administratively.

This role will be expected to advise on best practices for visual and multimedia storytelling, while also creating strategies for individual platforms ranging from Instagram to YouTube to broadcast media.

The director will cultivate a visual communications community-of-practice and collaborate closely with schools, colleges, major units along with alumni and fundraising partners.Responsibilities: Assists with creative content production's strategic planning and execution for the institution. Provides subject matter expertise and consultation to stakeholders and supervises staff.15% Develops, implements, and maintains institutional identity, design standards, policies, and procedures to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources25% Develops and monitors creative communication plans and dissemination protocols, workflows, and progress measurements to ensure production adheres to institutional objectives in alignment with strategic initiatives15% Serves as a subject matter expert and liaison between external and internal stakeholders providing information regarding creative design strategies and representing the interests of the institution10% Maintains budget and financial records to ensure adherence with institution and rules and regulations15% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees10% Create a multi-year plan for photography and videography functions in modern communications.10% Oversee photography and videography functions to meet the institution's brand and communications strategyInstitutional Statement on Diversity:Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. A background in higher education is preferred, but not required.Work Type:Full Time: 100%
