Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The bartender provides timely, accurate and friendly service while preparing the highest quality beverages for our guests. Each bartender's primary objective is to show our guests such a marvelous time, they will want to return. Must be available to work weekends, nights and holidays.

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:Prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the restaurant's standard drink recipesAccepts guest payment, processes credit card charges, and makes change if necessaryChecks identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcoholCleans and sterilizes glasses, utensils, and bar equipmentBalances cash receiptsRecords drink orders accurately and immediately after having received them into the register systemAttempts to limit problems and liabilities related to guests' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading guests to stop drinking or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated guestsStocks bar with beer, wine, liquor, and related supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins, or strawsPresents drink menus, make recommendations, and answer questions regarding beveragesTakes beverage orders from serving staff or directly from guests seated at the barCleans bars, work areas, and tablesResets tables in bar areaMixes ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinksServes snacks or food items to guests seated at the barSlices and pits fruit and prepare other garnishes for drinksAsks guests who become loud and obnoxious to leave, or physically remove them.Arranges and maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation, promotion of beverages, and attractive displaysMaintains cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areasRecognizes and learns the names of regular guestsAssists the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and suppliesReports all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to the restaurant managerSECONDARY DUTIES:

Plans, organizes, and controls the operations of a cocktail lounge or barOrders or requests liquors and suppliesSupervises the work of bar staff and other bartendersPlans bar menusEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must be 21 years of age with a Level 2 ServSafe Certification, Certified Bartender Class (preferred) and 2 years of bartending experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

COMPETENCY/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent conversationalist with a pleasant and professional personalityStrong accounting, time management and multi-tasking skillsEffectively performs complex tasks typically following established processesWorking knowledge of POS, credit card machines and all equipment associated with the barSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
