Job descriptionSara Hillery Interior Design is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and detail-oriented interior designer who is well-versed in interior design office protocol and design standards. Essential skills for this role include organization, excellent follow-through and the ability to prioritize. Candidates must be capable of interpreting, organizing, coordinating, and executing design for interior space from the early phase of design development through construction documents, implementation, and installation.Description:The Interior Designer will play a vital role as the Principal Designer's support person. This position will serve as the liaison between the Principal Designer and the other employees of the firm, clients, and vendors. The Interior Designer will be required to attend meetings with the Principal Designer to take notes, prioritize, organize, and execute action items as needed. This position requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The Interior Designer will be required to have an extensive understanding of the interior design firm's overall operations and current best practices. The Interior Designer will be required to provide backup support in the Principal Designer's absence in the form of communication, administration, and coordination with the team.Position Responsibilities Include:General:Work on design projects from the development stage to the installation stageWork on interior design projects as a collaborative team member and participate in design meetings to help define strategic goals for clientsHelp maintain material and resource libraries and provide general administrative support as needed (mailing, filing, scanning, sorting)Record time dailyConcept, Design Development, and Specifications:Perform site evaluations and measurements; photograph spaces and inventoryConceptualize and create 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and RevitFirm understanding of contemporary designers in the industry as well furniture styles.Prepare project budgets with Principal DesignerPerform material research to ensure finish selections are appropriate for each applicationCreate detailed FF&E schedules and specifications including selections, sourcing, and finishesAssist with specifying interior finishes, furniture, and accessoriesDevelop design documents including finish boards, finish schedules, and specifications bindersProduct Sourcing, Quoting, and Pricing:Obtain pricing and quotes for material and labor costs; interface with vendors to procure product information and availabilityPrepare proposals and purchase orders for review by Principal DesignerPurchase product with approval by Principal DesignerReview product orders from vendor for accuracyProduct Receiving and Quality Control:Follow-up with vendors on orders and track product estimated completion and shipping dates; update product tracking softwareManage CFAs and samplingReceive, inspect, and check in product upon arrivalWork with vendors' customer service to resolve product issues when items do not arrive as expectedWork with vendors' customer service to issue return of product as neededClient Meetings and Presentations:Develop design presentationsCreate agendas, set up and gather materials for client meetingsRecord meeting minutes and distribute minutes to all parties; record action items in task management softwareProject Management and Communication:Coordinate with contractors, architects, engineers, subcontractors, furniture receivers and installers, and other trade professionalsCreate and manage project timeline schedulesCommunicate with clients on all aspects of design implementationMaintain professionalism and provide excellent client experience to represent firm's imageInstallation:Coordinate installations of furniture, fixtures, accessories, drapery, artwork and other products as requiredCreate installation documentation and schedules and prepare design team member with appropriate tools and products needed for installationPost-Project Follow-Up:Prepare and provide maintenance binder to clientContinue to demonstrate client appreciationQualifications & Skills:Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and dependabilityStrong attention to detail and excellent time management skillsExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsMust be proficient with working knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Word, Adobe Photoshop andInDesign, AutoCAD, and RevitExperience with IVY/Houzz Pro software is preferredManage complex calendars and resolve scheduling conflictsMaintain and manage an accurate, up-to-date vendor contact databaseIdentify and resolve problems in a timely mannerHandle multiple priorities and meet deadlinesResourceful, independent, and enthusiastic team playerMinimum experience of 2 years is preferredRequirements:Full-Time Position (40 hours per week)Must be able to pass a background checkMust have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, full insurance coverage, and a reliable automobile (this position entails visiting showrooms to obtain samples, dropping off and picking up samples or other materials at client and vendor locations, field measuring, attendance at client meetings, and other errands)Must be comfortable working from the Principal Designer's home officeMust be comfortable working with team members and industry partnersMust have the ability to bend and reach from ground level to 6 feet in height, as well as, push, pull, lift, and carry up to 25lbs; must be able to hold and grip objectsMust be able to visit job sitesSome travel will be requiredAbout Sara Hillery Interior Design:We are a design firm providing an extensive range of interior design services, from conception to renderings to project management and execution, with a keen eye on the finishing details.
