We are looking for a creative, energetic, and marketing minded person to join Garden City Parks and Recreation. So many exciting things are happening but we need help communicating to the community the many programs, parks, and recreation opportunities available. This position works out of the Radcliff Center where we create community on a daily basis.

Part time10-15 hours week$17/hour

This position will remain open until filled.

To independently coordinate and assist with marketing and promotion of park and recreation activities and programs. This position is part time and will require occasional weekends and evenings. Strong communication skills, marketing know-how and a passion for community, parks, and programs are desired for this role.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

Develop and design printed/virtual marketing brochures, flyers, and communication items to promote a variety of park and recreation programs, operations, events, and information: mailings, signage, social media, eblasts, community outreach and more.Coordinate, compile and edit newsletter.Research, evaluate and implement best practices for delivering messages and information to residents.Coordinate the development and maintenance of informational exhibits and public relations including tabling opportunities for positive relationship building in the community.Provide support to park and recreation staff in creating programs and developing marketing plans and brand identity.Attend events to take photos or otherwise assist with public relations and general Park and Rec promotions.Provide input and ideas to improve content and quality of department website.Convey complex information concerning communications and marketing programs and initiatives.Keep detailed, accurate records of all work performed and assist in organization of files & calendars.Perform various other duties necessary for the functioning of Parks and Recreation.Performs other related work as assigned.Minimum qualifications & Requirements

Previous customer service or clerical experience required. Possession of a high school diploma with some college experience preferred or any combination of education and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

Basic knowledge of a variety of computer software such as: Chrome, Word, Excel, Outlook, and publishing programs.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
