Derek Lam 10 Crosby Design InternshipObjective:The Derek Lam 10 Crosby Design Internship provides hands-on ready-to-wear experiences in the process of design. Being involved in all stages from concept to photoshoots, the intern will be exposed to and participate in every critical step such as building boards, creating digital flats and CADs, researching and developing design details/trims, preparing for various fittings, etc. The program will not only teach the necessary skills to deliver products, but also foster design thinking, styling, and creating a bigger narrative. The intern will be mentored by the assistant RTW designer, communicating each project and every process to grow to be more creative and efficient.How many weeks long is it?

One semester August 26 through December 15, 2024As an intern on our team, you will learnCreate Digital flats and CADs utilizing high end woven constructionAssist in woven fabric development using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.Support design with research and development of trims and finishing techniquesCraft physical and digital mockups for fabric manipulationsLearn how to create embellishment layoutsAssist team with creating print colorways, matching pantones, and setting up artworkwith color assortmentsAssist team with seasonal board updates and maintaining data entryAssist with assembling/disassembling concept, print, sketch, and fabric boardsAid in preparation of prototype and SMS fittingsSupport team with SMS alterations and sourcing local notions and trimsParticipate in seasonal styling and preparation for look books, campaigns and e-comm photoshootsAssist with prototyping potential accessories for look book and campaign photoshootsDocument and file vintage samples for seasonal inspirationMaintain color library, trim archive, garment closets, etc.RequirementsMust be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate fashion design program or recent gradExperience with photoshop and illustrator CADsDemonstrates passion for ready-to-wear and product knowledgeComputer literacy including proficiency with MS Office applicationsKnowledge and proficiency with Adobe Illustrator & PhotoshopKnowledge of woven fabrics is preferredStrong knowledge of woven garment constructionAbility to multi-task and meet deadlinesStrong verbal and written communication skills; detail orientated and thoroughProblem solving and organization skillsEnthusiastic, positive, and proactive demeanor
