DescriptionWe're looking for a Sr. Programmer Writer to combine their expert technical writing skills, along with their knowledge of coding and scripting, to design and maintain detailed technical documentation that supports Amazon's global developer population.You will have the flexibility to think big and define new approaches for user assistance. You'll also be a part of the product planning process to also help champion a great developer experience.The ideal candidate is an expert technical communicator with proven experience writing and publishing high-quality documentation, code, and automation scripts for deeply technical audiences.10014Key job responsibilities* Design and maintain in-house documentation that focuses on DevOps scenarios, use cases, and tasks* Define processes and policies for enabling community contributions* Write or adapt small units of code and short automation scripts to support documentation* Track and prioritize feedback and improvements to documentation* Reconcile conflicting documentation priorities and deadlines with stakeholders* Communicate ongoing documentation progress with stakeholdersBasic Qualifications- 5+ years in a technical writing role- 5+ years of experience writing for a developer or IT operations (DevOps) audience- 5+ years of experience writing code or automation scripts as part of published documentation- 3+ years of experience working on multiple documentation projects simultaneously with competing priorities and deadlinesPreferred Qualifications- Experience with web services- Experience with an object-oriented programming language such as Java, Ruby, or C#- Experience with an automation scripting framework such as bash shell scripting, Windows batch scripting, or Windows PowerShell- Experience with command-line tools- Strong written and verbal communication skill- Strong ability to work across teams and groups to accomplish objectives- A proactive and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering results- Ability to work independently in ambiguous, fast-paced, and ever-changing situations and assignmentsAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
