Edit and proofread content from internal and external sources to ensure editorial standards as well as consistency in organizational brand and voice. Use data such as analytics and keyword research to inform and improve online content and editorial planning. Work with subject matter experts, including scientists and health care providers, to describe patient care services, cutting-edge research, and market differentiators. The person is an exceptional editor and proofreader, with a keen eye for detail. The person is agile, meets deadlines, and manages priorities while overseeing many projects at once, working both independently and on a team.Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus at least 4 years of related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.**Essential Functions*** Write and publish original content for various print, online, and digital platforms.* Use analysis and insight tools to run reports and do keywork research to inform content writing and editorial planning, adjusting tactics as necessary.* Interview doctors, researchers, patients, caregivers, and staff for feature stories.* Maintain and update Huntsman Cancer Institute’s style guide and editorial tip sheets.* Understand and adhere to plain language and health literacy principles.* Edit materials to ensure consistency with organizational guidelines and standards.* Proofread materials, including final quality control before production or publication.* Attend regular meetings with various departments at Huntsman Cancer Institute and University of Utah Health to gather content ideas and share plans.* Work with team to conceptualize and implement integrated communication strategies on annual, monthly, and weekly timelines.* Support the team as needed with large-scale initiatives such as major events.**Work Environment and Level of Frequency typically required**Nearly Continuously: Office environment.**Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required**Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking.Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking.Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.**Minimum Qualifications**Bachelor’s degree in area of specialty and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required.**Preferences**A Master’s degree in a related field may be preferred.**Type** Benefited Staff**Special Instructions Summary****Additional Information**The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”).
