**38488BR****Extended Job Title:**Library Associate - TTU - Nighttime Desk**Position Description:**This paraprofessional position holds responsibilities that may involve supervision of a work unit and/or the undertaking of specialized work requiring a high level of expertise, such as cataloging or processing of manuscript collections. Independent judgment and a comprehensive knowledge of tasks are used to accomplish the mission of the unit. Work is performed under general supervision within established policies with latitude for independent judgment. Evaluation is based upon a review of completed work and overall results obtained.**Requisition ID:**38488BR**Travel Required:**Up to 25%**Major/Essential Functions:**+ Works at service desk; answers incoming phone calls to main library number and triages where appropriate.+ Assists patrons with reservation of Group Study Rooms; issues TexShare cards, community eRaider, borrower’s cards, and guest WiFi to patrons.+ Serves as an escalation point to Non-Primary Desk staff for customer service questions; refers patrons to relevant subject librarians.+ Participates in writing and updating Access Services procedures and documentation: Completes assigned projects within stacks management at the main library and remote storage facilities.+ Submits End of Shift, End of Day, and Incident Reports as needed; Submits Access Services Work Orders.+ Provides supplemental training for Student Assistants after initial training by SA Supervisor; Monitors student assistants' day-to-day activities including monitoring student assistant schedule and notifying SA Supervisor of deviations.+ Maintains the inventory of reserve items at the service desk.+ Perform point of sale transactions using a credit card machine while following PCI DSS.+ Gathers and enters statistical information of transactions outside of ALMA.+ Processes intake of Lost & Found items.+ Performs frequent security rounds to ensure the safety of patrons and building staff.+ May open and close building as needed.**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**+ Effective Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.+ Flexibility in work assignments.+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy.+ Strong keyboard skills.+ Excellent customer service skills.+ Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a diverse team.**Grant Funded?:**No**Minimum Hire Rate:**17.77**Pay Basis:**Hourly**Schedule Details:**Sun, Mon & Thurs 5:30PM - 2:30 AM, Fri 2:30PM - 11:30PM, Sat 10AM-7PM**Work Location:**Lubbock**Preferred Qualifications:**+ Ability to think independently.+ Previous academic library experience.+ Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems.+ Ability to effectively manage time.+ Previous experience dealing with difficult customers.**Department:**Library**Required Attachments:**Cover Letter, Professional/Personal References, Resume / CV**Job Type:**Full Time**Job Group:**Library Staff**Shift:**Night**Required Qualifications:**Bachelors' degree in related field and one year related experience; knowledge and competencies of Microsoft Office.
