Pay Range InformationChapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Position Summary InformationJob Description SummaryWorking closely with Dean to develop and implement communications, publicity strategy, and events for the College of Performing Arts (CoPA). Support and collaborate with administrators, faculty, staff, and Strategic Marketing and Communications (SMC) colleagues to implement CoPA marketing, communications, public relations, and event goals. Identify and communicate with target audiences, draft messaging for CoPA dean, faculty, and programs, and orchestrate tactics to deliver messages. Responsible for writing, editing, print, website. and social media associated with CoPA to maintain the accuracy, currency, consistency, and quality of communications. Participate in relevant CoPA and SMC marketing, communications, public relations, and event planning meetings. Assist with events, including publicity. Supports the Dean. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Communication and marketing activities

Working closely with the Dean to develop and implement communication strategies and activities that support our recruitment efforts by promoting awareness of the distinctiveness and excellence of the student experience in CoPA. Develop, Implement, and Monitor an Annual CoPA Marketing Campaign plan.Collaborate with Strategic Marketing and Communications (SMC) to design, proofread, and produce marketing and promotional materials for institutional level publicity or branding projects. Ensure CoPA adheres to branding guidelines established by SMC.Advise Dean on best practices in different communication mediums as well as University's branding protocols. Make recommendations for innovative ways to support recruitment (e.g., enhanced visibility of CoPA highlights and events; assisting deans and faculty with communication requests and translating research findings for difference audiences and communication mediums).Compile, coordinate and maintain website and social media updates, print materials, and photography (include appropriate ratios of print and social media formats).Maintain a master calendar and track schedule of communications, production, and distribution of social media communications, web, and print.Collaborate with Legal Affairs to engage independent contractors when necessary.Work with approved vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery of goods and/or services.Design, produce, write, and edit copy and content for social media, websites, blogs, fact sheets, newsletters, brochures, etc.Ensure cost-effective, strategically targeted creation of publicity materials for CoPA events (social media, websites, advertisements, digital signage, posters, etc.) for CoPA events and coordinate the work of student graphic designers.Work with the dean and/or department chairs to determine and administer project budgets.Review and develop written content (e.g., stories, reports, interviews with students, faculty, alumni, donors) as well as approved images (video and still) for social media and print media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Twitter, Tik-Tok, Facebook, blogs).Identify and coordinate CoPA advertising opportunities.Compile, analyze, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of CoPA marketing efforts.Coordinate use of surveys and other market research instruments to collect appropriate information, as assigned.Maintain current of new social media, web, and print tools and research market instruments.Publicity and Service to the Dean

Collaborate with Strategic Marketing and Communications (SMC) to plan and coordinate publicity and marketing for institutional level events when CoPA is involved.Publicize events through social media, websites, PR, and print media.Maintain photo archive for CoPA. Provide support for photographic coverage and/or coordinate with SMC for a Chapman photographer for CoPA events and performances, and create short event recaps for social media and web.Provide guidance and leadership to staff in areas of communications and publicity,Support the Dean in the areas of publicity and communication, including communications going to internal or external audiences.

Required Qualifications

Proven ability in designing and producing creative marketing and promotional materials, preferably within a performing arts context.Experience using social and print media to promote an organization or service.Three to five years' professional experience in public relations environment or related field.Bachelor's degree (preferably in PR, Communications, English, or related subject) and/or combination of experience and education.Strong communication skills to consistently generate and manage all ongoing university coverage, news, and publicity.Excellent writing, proofreading (for errors in composition, spelling, grammar, and format), editing, and oral and digital communication skills.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Technical skills to learn enterprise systems and design tools needed for the position.Proven ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently and accurately in a busy work environment with many interruptions.Strong analytical skills to assess situations, obtain appropriate information, and provide sound recommendations within the position level.Demonstrated tack and diplomacy and ability to maintain confidentialityHighly organized and attention to detail a must.Ability to understand, interpret, and follow Chapman University and departments' policies and procedures.Strong interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels.Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.Familiarity with performing arts or related venues.Experience in content management for social media (e.g. Hootsuite, Adobe Express), web design (e.g. Modern Campus Omni CMS), and design tools for print & digital media (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Publisher, etc.)Experience in Project Management and Time Management.Knowledge of Chapman's procedures and processes.Excellent writing, proofreading (for errors in composition, spelling, grammar, and format), editing, and oral and digital communication skills.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Technical skills to learn enterprise systems and design tools needed for the position.Proven ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently and accurately in a busy work environment with many interruptions.Strong analytical skills to assess situations, obtain appropriate information, and provide sound recommendations within the position level.Demonstrated tack and diplomacy and ability to maintain confidentialityHighly organized and attention to detail a must.Ability to understand, interpret, and follow Chapman University and departments' policies and procedures.Strong interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels.Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
