And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for.****Job Description**The New York Times is looking for a recipe editor to join NYT Cooking, our fast-growing, industry-leading recipe product, which has more than a million subscribers and approximately 20,000 recipes. You will focus on editing our recipes and related instructional cooking content, shepherding them from the idea stage all the way to publication. You have excellent recipe and story editing skills and culinary knowledge and line editing skills. You are an expert on how recipes are developed and you can develop and contribute ideas. You will also be able to work well on a collaborative team.You will report to the Deputy Editor of our Cooking team. It is a hybrid role based in the New York City office.**What you’ll do:**+ You will identify, develop, and edit recipes and headnotes for accuracy, clarity, context and New York Times style.+ Identify and edit service-driven stories about cooking for culinary accuracy, clarity and New York Times style.+ You will make assignments, and oversee the work of recipe developers, testers, reporters and fellow editors to produce outstanding recipes that work and taste delicious.+ Participate in brainstorming meetings, and produce ideas for recipes and related instructional content for a digital audience.+ Produce, review, tag and publish recipes and related content in our CMS.+ Train testers, recipe developers and editors in Times style and practices.+ Help organize and keep track of recipes in AirTable and our CMS throughout the entire workflow.+ Gather recipes into collections on NYT Cooking, and update those collections on an ongoing basis.+ Determine when recipes need to be updated to meet audience needs and to align with changes to the app and product.+ Update existing cooking instructional content to align with changes to the app and product.**Basic Requirements:**+ Experience working in a test kitchen.+ Minimum 8 years of experience as a recipe editor for a newsroom or other publication.+ Copy-editing experience+ Strong digital skills**Preferred Requirements:**+ Superb editorial judgment and attention to detail.
