This position will work collaboratively with subject matter experts and design team members to address training needs, prepare learning objectives, and define and sequence course content. The IDS will utilize knowledge of adult learning theories, multiple training delivery methods, and instructional design principles to maximize learner success and ensure the overall effectiveness of training programs.Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:+ Manage instructional design support for the NCS4 face-to-face courses developed in partnership with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) National Response and Recovery Training Center (NERRTC).-Execute an established curriculum development process that includes working with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and design team members throughout the development process.- Promote collaboration, partnerships, and relationships among the design team.-Lead course development meetings and work with the Curriculum Manager to establish project requirements and track and report project progress.-Prepare and submit curriculum drafts for the design team, instructor, and subject matter expert reviews.-Schedule and conduct focused reviews of all curriculum materials.-Prepare and test documents to ensure compliance with 508 requirements.- Maintain project documentation and course folders.- Prepare documents for professional printing and publishing.- Analyze data and metrics to determine the effectiveness of training programs.+ Manage instructional design support for the NCS4 eLearning portfolio, including developing and deploying engaging learning activities and compelling course content.- Define clear and measurable learning objectives that align with the overall goals of the eLearning training program.- Create instructional content such as text, multimedia, and interactive elements to support learning objectives.- Design assessment and evaluation strategies to measure learner understanding and program effectiveness.- Collaborate with team members and technical experts to ensure integration of learning modules into a Learning Management System (LMS).- Maintain technology proficiency by staying updated on eLearning tools, authoring - software, and emerging technologies.+ Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructors, and other design team members to ensure the accuracy and validity of the training design and methodology. Ensure alignment exists between the curriculum, testing, and applicable standards. Establish project scope, timeline, goals, and objectives.+ Keeps informed of and interprets pertinent rules, regulations, policies, and procedures set forth by the University or other governing agencies and adjusts plans as required.+ Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University in Education, Curriculum, Instructional Design/Technology, or a related field and at least two years of experience in training, curriculum development, and adult learning principles.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities+ Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team+ Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines+ Must be detail-orientated and timely with all required notes, files, and documentation+ Demonstrates the ability to deliver accurate, concise, and quality communication (verbal and written) in a timely manner and provide quality feedback+ Knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft PowerPoint, Articulate 360, and Learning Management Systems+ Knowledge of Bloom's Taxonomy, the ADDIE Model, adult learning principles, and graphic designPreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree from an accredited college or University in Education, Curriculum, Instructional Design/Technology, or a related field and at least five years of experience in training, curriculum development, and adult learning principles.About The University of Southern MississippiSince our founding in 1910, The University of Southern Mississippi has remained dedicated to preparing students for success.
