JOB TITLE : DESIGNERLocated in Office in NYCJOB DESCRIPTION:The Designer is responsible for the design and development of ready to wear styles, consistent with the company's vision and brand strategy. The goal is to create design collections from concept through product, consistent with brand image and target customers.RESPONSIBILITIES:Design Research and Concept LaunchLeads concept process; creates seasonal story boards to communicate overall concept to Chief Creative Officer and cross-functional partners in an inspirational and organized mannerStays abreast of competitive landscape; research market, identify opportunities and incorporate relevant market and sales trends into product assortments in a brand-appropriate mannerDevelop and/or evolve tiered product strategies of the Global Line Plan supported by key/core items and good-better-best assortments by brandResearch and sketch silhouettes, selection of colors, prints, fabrics and trims; finalizes color palette and print directionDesign Development and Line StatusOperate within company product development calendar to meet designated goals and deadlines.Customize design vision to meet retail/wholesale margin targets and to align with key themes and messagesResponsible for initial technical packages for overseas proto development as well as purchasing specs TP's for bulk productionAttend fit sessions; work closely with Technical Design to maintain Natori's aestheticWork with CAD/Graphics team to develop print/embellishment layouts to specificationsCommunicate with PD team concerning all color, l/d, s/o and color approval information and techniquesPartner with PD and Sales/Merchandising teams to ensure all product needs are metAdditional responsibilities as requiredQUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the industry, preferably womenswearBFA, BS in Fashion Design or equivalentStrong knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop Program; Kaledo is a plusBasic computer skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPointExcellent hand/digital sketching and illustration abilityStrong technical knowledge of garment construction and fitAbility to communicate clearly using fabric/merchandising/garment construction terminology and skills both written and verbalGreat eye for color; understands possibilities of fabric and construction; looks for new and innovative ways to use color, fabric, and details in designApplies design concepts through lens of the customer and brand filterFlexible and able to accept and embrace departmental/organizational changes with positive attitudeOrganized and detailed orientated; Problem-solver, solutions orientatedMust be able to multi-task, prioritize work on a continual basis, able to lead and work independentlyExcellent written and oral communications skillsAble to build relationships effectively with cross-functional teamsSalary range is $70,000.00 to $85,000.000 based on experience.Please provide link or PDF of portfolioAbout the Company:The Natori Company () designs high-end fashion, with collections including lingerie, bras, sleepwear, ready-to-wear, bedding, towels, home fragrance, swim, and more.
