The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Directs a multi-disciplinary design team in the creation of user centered design solutions for all business areas and portfolios within our US personal lines business unit. Establishes standards to ensure that Liberty Mutual and Safeco offers an efficient and effective user experience to agents, prospects, and customers. Acts as an internal expert and consults across the organization. Directs the development and implementation of new capabilities and tools that support business objectives and leverage customer insights.Oversees the creation of user experience and visual design solutions for projects of varying complexity based on business objectives and customer insights.Manages design resourcing and prioritization to ensure business partners are receiving most appropriate and effective support for their program objectives.Monitors and optimizes UX design process. Defines creative tools and guidelines to ensure that best practices are consistently employed. Uses a wide variety of data and feedback channels to track progress and identify opportunities to improve products and services.Ensures the creative vision is clearly defined and consistently employed across the enterprise. Is sought as the go to person that maintains and improves design processes and practices.Continuously works to improve creative output by offering direction and resources to the department. Directs/initiates the objective setting and discovery process, including user persona development and interpreting user goals.Collaborates with the Research Team to design and execute a variety of user research activities.Builds commitment to project, negotiates compromises and resolves conflicts. Acts as an evangelist for customer centric design practices across the organization. Creates a shared understanding of customer insights across multiple functions in order to drive a seamless experience across customer touch points.Manages and motivates staff of employees, freelance contractors, and vendors to assure all projects meet business objectives and brand guidelines.Hires, develops, trains and maintains a high performing and engaged team. Directs team members, sets direction for team that align with organizational goals. Ensures the team has the development, training and resources available to perform their job effectively.Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 10+ years of experience in a related field.Experience managing a multi-disciplinary design team with a strong track record of coaching and mentoring design talent to develop their skills and improve their performance.Front end development skills (CSS/SCSS, HTML5, Git, JavaScript, Nodejs, React). Familiarity with enterprise build and release cycles.Experience using methodologies such as Agile, Design Thinking, Lean UX, and Lean Startup. Demonstrated expertise in front end development and UX design, as well as familiarity with visual design, prototyping, user research and/or experiment design.A deep understanding of the pillars of design systems, including principles, components, and patterns as both a design system consumer and design system contributor.Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Strong analytical thinking skills with the proven ability to synthesize and reconcile complex, interdependent, and sometimes competing requirements.Proven track record of collaborating effectively at all levels of the organization.Solid understanding of information architecture, usability, and UX practices. Proven ability to effectively influence at all levels of the organization.About Us
