Our mission is to foster open science and scientific exchange by delivering high-quality peer-reviewed research to scholars around the globe. The English Editing Department is integral to this mission, ensuring that all of MDPI’s manuscripts are published with clarity, consistency, and grammatical accuracy.Role: Freelance English EditorWe are looking for meticulous individuals with a strong grasp of the English language and the varied nuances of academic writing to support scholars publishing their research. Freelance English Editors support academic research by editing the language of peer-reviewed papers to publication-ready standards within a stipulated timeframe.ResponsibilitiesEdit scholarly articles submitted to MDPI journals to a publication-ready standard.Apply knowledge of the English language and the context of the manuscript to make the English clear, consistent, and grammatically correct, communicating the author’s message without changing their voice unnecessarily.Ensure manuscripts align with MDPI’s house rules.Effectively meet tight deadlines.Essential Experience and SkillsA Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in any subject.Expert knowledge of the English language.Experience in editing, translating, or publishing scholarly content.Excellent time management and organization skills.High attention to detail.Experience working remotely in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work independently and as part of an international team.Access to the most recent version of MS Word and antivirus software.BenefitsFlexible work schedule: Freelance English Editors dictate their own working schedule and the number of words they are available to edit per day.Training in editing scholarly content according to MDPI’s conventions by experienced in-house editors.Progression pathways: Editors producing high-quality edits efficiently and consistently may be approached by the Author Services Department for freelance Academic Editing opportunities.Pay review schemes.Application ProcessCV and Cover Letter Submission.Initial Screening Test.Second Editing Test.Online Interview.Training Period.Diversity, Equality, and InclusionAt MDPI, we believe in fostering an inclusive work environment that respects and values individual differences and prioritizes growth through continued learning, support, and feedback.
