seeks a dynamic and energetic

communications and marketing professional

in its

Office of Public Affairs and Communications

to serve in a variety of writing, editorial, design, social media and program management roles. The position will play a key role in communicating the School's leadership in transforming the future of medicine to its key audiences.

Specifically, the position will serve as the lead editor and designer of the School of Medicine's e-Newsletter, develop, and manage social media, activities, plan and coordinate community health education programs, and assist in key presentations for the Office of Public Affairs & Communications.

The ideal candidate will possess particular strengths in each of these areas: writing, design and program/event management.

Responsibilities:

Serve as the lead editor and designer for the School's flagship e-newsletter, covering all aspects of the School's mission areas: research, education, clinical care and community outreach.

Provide expertise/support to the Public Affairs team on social media, major presentations and conduct research on critical health issues.

Serve as the program and marketing manager for the School's community health education programs, including Mini-Med School, Mini-Med School for Kids, and the Seniors Medical Symposium.

Recommend and implement strategies to achieve marketing goals for the department, school, or University's services, facilities, or programs.

Prepare press releases and marketing information for media and communication distribution.

Produce informational items such as brochures, direct mail and advertising to promote the department, school, or University's facilities and services.

Research and create novel approaches to building business such as special events, media outlets, special services, or incentives.

Generate proposals, contracts, and other documents to secure business.

Maintain a database or other records of projects.

Develop relationships and maintain contact with various media outlets.

Perform administrative duties as needed.

Assist in tracking metrics associated with communication's programs.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree preferably in English, journalism, or communications.

Experience:

Three (3) years of related communications, marketing, media, public or client relations experience.

Prior experience in the following areas is preferred:

E-newsletter writing and design

Program/Event management

Marketing collateral

Presentation, visual graphics

Other:

Related experience may be substituted for education.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of health/science/medicine preferred.

Skill in the use of Constant Contact, Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, and all major social media platforms.

Hiring Range: $70,000 - $77,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
