Position Title Director of Conservatory of Music AdmissionsLocationLocation AppletonDepartmentDepartment AdmissionsPosition TypePosition Type StaffPosition Description & QualificationsDIRECTOR OF CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC ADMISSIONSREPORTS TO: Associate Vice President for Enrollment ManagementLOCATION : Chapman Hall, Appleton, WIPRIMARY OBJECTIVE :Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director is responsible for the management of the Conservatory of Music recruitment and application processes. They are charged with increasing the number of qualified students who apply, audition, and ultimately enroll in the conservatory while meeting net tuition revenue goals.Responsible for management of conservatory admissions; development of relationships and establishment of University presence in the youth music communities with an objective of balancing the enrollment goals of the conservatory studios and contributing to the university goal of increasing applications, enrollment, and net student revenue.RESPONSIBILITIES :1. Collaboratively develop and execute the recruitment plan for conservatory students, including but not limited to school visits, college fairs, meetings with youth symphonies and summer music festivals.2. In collaboration the VP and AVP for Enrollment Management along with the Conservatory of Music leadership, develop and implement a recruitment plan to enroll which emphasizes increasing the quality and number of conservatory students.3. Interview and communicate with prospective conservatory students and their families.4. Supervise an Admissions Counselors tasked with assisting in conservatory recruitment and general recruitment.5. Review and make final recommendations for first-year and transfer applicants to the conservatory.6. Responsible for the management of an assigned special population of conservatory applicants (e.g., voice or instrumental students).7. Coordinate special conservatory recruitment activities in conjunction with members of the conservatory faculty, including music workshops and visits to high schools by conservatory faculty and Lawrence ensembles.8. Coordinate on-campus audition arrangements, including scheduling, promotion, and overnight accommodations.9. Oversee regional audition arrangements, including scheduling, promotion, site procurement and arrangements, recording of auditions and theory interviews.10. Collaborate with Associate Director of Admissions Communications and with the University Marketing and Communications team on conservatory admissions publications, website, and electronic communications.11. Prepare and present regular admissions enrollment reports to the Conservatory Dean and faculty and to the VP and AVP for Enrollment Management.12. Collaborate with the Director of Financial Aid, AVP , and VP on the awarding of scholarships and financial aid.13. Regularly attend conservatory faculty meetings.14. Represent the university at recruitment-related activities such as high school visits, college fairs, and performing arts fairs. Travel required.15. Assist with the general recruitment of non-conservatory students as needed.16. Other related responsibilities as assigned by the AVP for Enrollment Management.WORKING RELATIONSHIPS :Will work collaboratively with all members of the admissions office and financial aid office, as well as with the office of marketing and communications, and the athletics department.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :1. 4 years of admissions and/or administrative experience.2. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in music.3. Knowledge of and commitment to the study of music within a liberal arts environment.4. Extensive knowledge of music as it relates to education in a conservatory.5. Experience working with CRMs to recruit students, preferably with Slate.6. Exceptional written and oral communication and organizational and interpersonal skills.7. Ability to work with a minimal direction and supervision while also collaborating as part of a team environment.8. Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, and to travel 3-4 weeks per year.9. Experience working with the Microsoft Office suite.10.
