The Digital Communications Specialist is a key member of a high-performing marketing department whose mission is to keep Rowan University future and current students, parents, and other university constituents engaged with the university. The Digital Communications Specialist is vital to the successful development and publication of optimized web and digital content designed to achieve aggressive marketing and growth goals for the university.Reporting to the Associate Director of Web Content & Strategy, the Digital Communications Specialist works closely with marketing campaign strategists, other digital content producers, external vendor partners, web developers, and analytics team members to produce and publish content that maximizes user experience, supports keyword and SEO strategy, optimizes based on testing and analytical insights, and achieves strategic website goals.Primary Responsibilities+ Assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy for digital content creation, including deadlines coordinated with the creative and marketing strategy teams to ensure that site-specific objectives and timetables are met.+ Write and/or edit web content, optimizing for user experience (UX), including accuracy, readability, keyword usage strategy, search engine optimization, appropriateness for target audience, and the web medium.+ Collaborate with marketing and campaign strategy team to understand target audiences, content goals, and measurement plans.+ Work closely with members of the recruitment marketing team to understand priorities, determine content needs, provide writing support, and make optimization recommendations.+ Contribute to website and digital content performance monitoring, in collaboration with marketing strategy and digital analytics teams.+ Develop and edit web content within university content management system (CMS).+ Use a variety of tools, including Google Analytics, heat maps, keyword relevancy tools, web quality assurance software, search engine optimization and user data, to make assist in making recommendations on new content development, promotion, and sunsetting.+ Contribute to web governance and documentation, including standards, procedures, best practices, and style guides.+ Help maintain digital presence on multiple external lead generation and prospective student outreach websites and platforms.+ Review and evaluate content for compliance with policies, style, and tone.QualificationsRequired+ Master's Degree from an accredited institution+ Minimum four (4) years of professional experience in the marketing field, with an emphasis on web and digital content creation+ Experience applying user experience best practices+ Knowledge of search engine optimization best practices and demonstrated website and keyword optimization skills+ Experience with web-based and digital communication and engagement+ Experience using content management systems and analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and Tag Manager, WordPress, Cascade, or other CMS platforms.+ Demonstrated commitment to staying current with web and digital best practices, and learning new technology skills and platforms+ Outstanding writing and editing skills+ Excellent project management and organizational skills+ Strong experience working with Google Analytics+ Image editing and file formatting experience+ Web accessibility standards and ADA-compliance knowledge+ Excellent interpersonal skills+ Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds.Preferred+ Agency copywriting experience+ Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite+ Working knowledge of Google Business Suite+ Higher Education experience+ Working knowledge of InDesign and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite+ Experience with project management and workflow tools (e.g. Basecamp, Asana, Wrike, etc.)Note: Rowan University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diverse people and abilities.
