The County Administrative Office, Communications Group is recruiting for an

Events and Marketing Assistant

-

Public Service Employee (PSE).

The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the department's daily marketing campaign operations, which requires managing a high volume content calendar, gathering analytics to drive positive marketing efforts, and other duties necessary to deliver high quality events.Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Track all deadlines for creative development, submissions, and content updatesGather and compile statistics and data for all media buys and relevant web pages, gathering media kits and costs for future marketing prospectsGather quotes for items to purchase, secure rentals, and assist with setting up timelines for graphic requests and receiving ordersAssist with preparation for and logistics support during eventsOversee the event equipment inventory for County eventsOther duties as assignedCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process:

Applicants must successfully pass a background check, which includes fingerprints and a medical exam.

Travel:

Travel throughout the County may be required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment and maintained; employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available at current IRS rate.

Working Conditions:

Working outdoors and lifting up to 40 pounds may be required occasionally to support event operations.

Work Schedule:

Schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week; hours may vary depending upon business needs.

Public Service Employee (PSE):

Public Service Employees are considered at-will, temporary positions. PSEs do not gain regular status and assignments will not exceed twelve (12) months.Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet both the education and experience requirements for one of the options listed below.

OPTION 1

Education:A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in public or business administration, public relations, hospitality and events management, recreation administration, marketing, communications, or other relevant field.Experience:One (1) year of event/marketing experience.OPTION 2 Education:An Associate's degree from an accredited college in public or business administration, public relations, hospitality and events management, recreation administration, marketing, communications, or other relevant field.Experience:Three (3) years of event/marketing experience. DESIRABLE SKILLSMicrosoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)

High customer service focus with competence in computer usage, phone etiquette, and interpersonal relations

Strong work ethic and thrive in a team oriented environment.Experience in market and industry research and analysis is highly desired.
