Job SummaryThe Senior Director for External Affairs and Communications will serve as a key member of the Dean's Office team and will be the Dean's primary representative with external education sector leaders and partners. The Senior Director will therefore engage with diverse external constituencies, including but not limited to school system leaders, nonprofit leaders, state agencies, and corporate partners. Much of the Senior Director's work will be in coordination with HGSE Senior Director of External Engagement and the Director of Community Engagement and Insights. Initial responsibilities will include the following:Staff and facilitate the work of key faculty governance committees and administrative working groups focused on external engagement and impact.Support the School's partnership-focused communications materials and research engagement efforts to develop streamlined narratives and high impact assets.Collaborate with HGSE's Development Office to connect partnership opportunity to donor interests and contribute to the development of funding proposals for partner-related projects.As a member of the Dean's Office staff, may be assigned to lead or participate in other projects and initiatives as needed and appropriate.This is a term position through August 31, 2025.Position DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities:Map HGSE's current landscape of partnerships and field engagement (research groups, faculty work, Admissions, Professional Education, etc.)Lead field-based listening sessions with potential key partners to understand how they view HGSE's strengths and improvement opportunities.Analyze current partnerships and field engagements to identify opportunities for improvements and expansion.Ensure HGSE partnerships and field engagements are accessible and transparent to all relevant stakeholders.Build and cultivate partnerships with academic institutions, industry leaders, governmental bodies, and non-profits to advance the School's objectives.Support the School's partnership-focused communications materials and research engagement efforts to develop streamlined narratives and high impact assets.Collaborate with HGSE's Development Office to connect partnership opportunity to donor interests and contribute to the development of funding proposals for partner-related projects.Represent the Dean's Office on relevant committees and workgroups.This is a one-year term position, designed to bring capacity to the Dean's Office in the upcoming academic year. A major priority and goal during this time is to identify and scope current and potential internal and external partnerships including identifying challenges and opportunities to inform and develop a strategic plan in the context of mission and impact.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.

The ability to work remotely will depend on the schedule of events and the flexible schedules of others in the office with an eye toward consistent coverage and equity.
