The Director, Philanthropic Communications is a content development leader with Inova Health Foundation within the Foundation's Donor Engagement Team. This role assists the team's senior leadership by leading the execution of written communication and project management for our Comprehensive Campaign, within the following strategic focus areas: Philanthropic Storytelling: internal and external tactics that promote Inova as a leading philanthropic destination in the region, Team Member Fundraising: strengthens Inova's culture of philanthropy and Philanthropic Communication Related to Emerging Ideas: communication elements (primarily written) which articulate philanthropic opportunities.

Job ResponsibilitiesWorks closely with internal stakeholders and organizational partners to create direct mail communications, individualized funding proposals, case statements, brochures, event collateral, newsletters, and presentations, and other written communications and donor-facing collateral.Creates high-impact materials from concept to finished product, researching, drafting, editing, and preparing various communication pieces.Works collaboratively with fundraising professionals, physicians, clinicians, and/or other colleagues to create strategic communications pieces, including video and social, to increase donor engagement and donations.Communicates medical information that resonates with non-experts from medical breakthroughs and innovative solutions to emotional appeal; connecting them to Inova and opportunities to invest in world-class healthcare.Independently conducts pertinent research as needed on current funding priorities, programs, donor biographical background, past donor communications in the database, etc. in order to draft individualized proposals, reports, and other communications pieces.Manages multiple writing projects simultaneously to meet deadlines and executes special projects as assigned.Serves as the Foundation's expert proofreader and editor.Oversees Philanthropic Communications to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization's goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.

Minimum Requirements:4 years of experience in non-profit, healthcare, fundraising or campaign experience1 year of experience as a demonstrated effective leader of a high-functioning team; Experience managing, coaching, and motivating one or more team members in a complex work environmentMaintains responsive relationships with volunteers, leaders, and other departmentsEducation - Bachelor's degreePreferred Qualifications:Proven expertise in writing and content creationAdvanced campaign strategy development. Demonstrated ability to design and execute innovative, data-driven campaign strategies that effectively align with organizational goals and drive engagement.Experience in developing and implementing multifaceted communication strategies, with a particular emphasis on direct mail campaigns that have yielded measurable results.Proficient in Stewardship Impact Reporting
