Summary About the Position: Works under general supervision of Chief, Medical Training Publications Branch, who establishes priorities and provides work assignments, explains production timelines/provides reference guides. The incumbent receives draft publications and other assigned projects from Branch Chief. The employee edits in progress/final training materials and ensures work is completed according to appropriate guides, regulations, and directives refering unresolved conflicts to the supervisor. Responsibilities Prepare final medical publication material for the organization. Plan, coordinate and monitor the production of medical training materials utilizing the highest quality of publishing standards. Ensure charts, graphs, and illustrations are near textual information based on project officer's requests. Mount graphics in camera ready copy or ensure graphics are mounted as directed. Transmit a variety of work requests to Medical Graphics/Photo Branch. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reading through medical text to locate apparent disagreements between text, charts, tables, and other graphics; locating inconsistencies within the manuscript; restructuring sentences to make them more understandable; producing educational course materials for medical learning programs; researching legal use of copyrighted intellectual property, compiling materials, and formatting; collaborating with publishers, copyright holders and faculty members to produce high quality medical course materials. OR Education: Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Reading comprehension and writing ability is critical to the satisfactory performance of duties.
