This opportunity provides hands-on experience in media and content creation on campus and in the local Gainesville community. We seek individuals from any academic background who are enthusiastic about arts and cultural events, performance or research; and who want to make a difference!The University of Florida is an equal opportunity institution dedicated to building a broadly diverse and inclusive faculty, seeking faculty of all races, ethnicities, genders, backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.Responsibilities:+ Capture high-quality photo and video footage of Center events, community programs and other activities+ Edit video and photo assets to produce engaging posts, videos and reels to highlight the success of Center events and programs+ Assist Center staff in curating, creating and scheduling content for social media+ Maintain awareness of social media trends and strategies+ Assist with basic website design and development for key Center events, including but not limited to the bi-annual conference and Afrofuturism Week+ Assist with outreach at Center events, engaging with campus and community participants+ Other duties as assigned by the departmentExpected Salary:$15 per hourMinimum Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent; and one year of relevant experiencePreferred Qualifications:The successful candidate will bring to the position:+ Two years of professional or community experience in communications and marketing+ Experience in Videography/photography and video production for social media (Instagram and Facebook required), and YouTube.+ Proficiency with video and image editing in Adobe creative suite or similar software+ Experience in basic website design and development from a template (eg, SquareSpace, Wix, WordPress)+ Experience in creating effective content for various information channels and diverse audiences+ Evidence of attention to detail and strong communication skills+ Experience communicating with a broad range of audiences in person and online in a professional and courteous manner+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team+ Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, viewpoint diversity, open discourse, and the well-being of all.Schedule & LocationWork will be primarily asynchronous and hybrid/remote, with some in-person work required.
