We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.Job Brief We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Controls Director to lead and oversee all key aspects of Project Controls for plant execution and operations including the overall coordination with Twelve’s functions, leadership and managing/ overseeing the performance of our Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors teams.The top candidates will have extensive expertise in project cost management, scheduling, critical path analysis, earned value management (EVM), activity-based costing, as well as vast experience in project management, procurement, contract management, forecasting, estimating, planning, budgeting, cash/ cost flow management, change control, and financial reporting. This role will be critical in standing up our Moses Lake facility and key aspects of Twelve’s overall business.The Project Controls Director will provide services to one or more projects, as part of a portfolio ranging from medium / small scale to complex, replicable and unique projects. You will also provide guidance and deliver project cost control plans to suit the project execution strategy and needs. They shall produce accurate and timely reporting input and analysis to the project team using the project applicable procedures and process workflows.What you'll do

Strategic PlanningTranslate strategy into a direction and work plan for the project team.

Support scope development, support defining the scope, develop and planning field (site) planning, construction work areas and packages, and processes to deliver optimal results in an increasingly complex business environment while identifying new opportunities to create value.

Integrate project front-end and detailed engineering activities, risk and interface management strategies, plans, and deliverables from all project disciplines, functions, and stakeholders to support the delivery of the Asset.

Develop and maintain project KPIs and provide transparent and accurate stewardship of project status to appropriate levels of Twelve leadership.

Implement the digital strategies of the project in support of the Asset Data Management Asset goals.

Develop, support and enable the implementation of project controls, processes, and programs to ensure adherence to standards and specifications from design through build and operations.

Work with the VP of Plant Design, and Execution to develop project budgets, ensuring effective cost control and resource allocation. Monitor project cash flow, scheduling and progress, productivity while identifying cost-saving opportunities, and adhering to a strong management of change process.

Develop project normalization techniques for quantitative project cost, schedule & performance data.

Execution/operationsChampion our Safety culture and demonstrate your proven ability to model purposeful and visible world-class safety leadership.

Develop plans, processes and procedures and then execute and ensure operational discipline through people, processes and teams.

Model flexibility and adaptability in response to a continuous changing environment and project priorities.

Experience in supporting the management of very complex project and construction interdependencies.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on the plant. Regularly assess plant engineering risks and implement appropriate risk management measures to ensure plant engineering success.

Support the contracting formation, administration, negotiation and management of contracts with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors alongside the Director of Plant Procurement. Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, and monitor contractor performance.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains throughout the project lifecycle. Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous projects to drive continuous improvement and optimize project outcomes.

Leads and owns the preparation of detailed Integrated Schedule Leads and provides oversight into all Project Benchmarking Activities.

Has comprehensive knowledge of project cost, planning, scheduling and estimating fundamentals and a solid familiarity of external benchmark offerings.

Strong knowledge of construction processes (including process safety) of hydrocarbon plants.

Plan, organize, manage, communicate to and lead the team that is responsible for achieving the project objectives, which may include dotted-line or matrixed management.

Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including EPC firms, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities. Ensure effective communication with stakeholders throughout the plant life cycle, addressing concerns and resolving issues in a timely manner.

Prepare and coordinate the preparation and present regular progress reports to functional and senior management, providing progress and forecasting of completion of the Asset, milestones, risks, and issues. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop solutions and make informed decisions to keep the plant development teams on track.

Facilitates interactive planning sessions to obtain consensus and build knowledge database for complex projects.

Prepare required progress reports and dashboards to provide project status updates to all internal and external Stakeholders.

Who you are

20+ years of experience in complex projects (i.e., upgraders, refineries, naphtha, syngas plants, jet fuel), and has worked in EP or EPC service providers, construction companies, and as the Owner/ Owner representative.

You have coordinated very complex interdependencies and interfaces while integrating multiple parties at a deliverable and activities level. are going to be a key differentiator.

Demonstrate sound decision-making with a continuous safety, reliability, cost-management and continuous improvement mindset, including identification of areas for improvement and building alignment with the integrated team members, internal and external stakeholders and business partners (e.g., licensors, engineering and procurement contractors, partners, constructors, etc).

Very skilled in the performance management of EPC contractors, licensors and previous cost and performance controls during the operation of the Plant.

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

Experience in developing and executing comprehensive execution plans, including defining objectives, milestones, and timelines.

Strong knowledge of risk management strategies and experience in identifying and mitigating potential risks.

Business acumen and ability to foresee interdependencies on a complex project or on a portfolio throughout multiple project life cycles (engineering, procurement, modularization, construction, commissioning and start-up).

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, and or Construction Management preferred.

A member of AACE is also preferred.
