The Marketing and Communications Associate supports APCO’s communications and marketing efforts associated with elevating the organization’s profile within emergency communications. Support the creation and execution of strategies, communications plans and related promotional collateral that promote the organization’s programs and services.

Essential Job Tasks:

The following are general descriptions of the essential job tasks of the position. Other related tasks may be assigned as necessary and appropriate.

Oversees, plans, coordinates, implements and tracks strategic marketing campaigns.

Coordinates with external partner organizations to implement trade agreements and oversees the shipping of marketing collateral and the APCO booth in accordance with the trade agreements.

Prepares and executes direct mail and email marketing campaigns.

Conceives and/or designs marketing collateral for promotion of association’s products, services and events.

Assists in social media outreach.

Assists with editing and producing APCO’s magazine.

Produces and edits electronic newsletters.

Assists Web Marketing Manager with edits to APCO’s various websites.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications or another related field.

• One to three years’ work related experience (can be internships) in communication, marketing or another related field.

• Outstanding oral, written and presentation skills.

• Competent with editing and familiarity with AP style.

• Experience with managing social media campaigns.

• Strong project management, collaborative, analytical and organizational skills.

• Familiarity with office productivity software, email marketing services and social media platforms.

• Basic graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite a plus, i.e. Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, etc.) and familiarity with HTML.
