Summary:

We are looking for a creative and versatile Graphic Design and Social Media Specialist to join our dynamic marketing team. This role will involve designing engaging visual content and creating compelling multimedia content for various digital platforms. The ideal candidate will be proficient in graphic design by creating visual content for marketing materials, be very creative and skilled in content creation for social media, websites and other digital channels.

Typical Duties

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Graphic Design:Design visually appealing graphics for websites, social media, email campaigns, and print materials including brochures, flyers and event posters.Independently develop graphics, visuals and videos to accompany social media posts and campaigns.Utilize social media tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro), CapCut, Canva, etc. to create content.Prepare design files for print and digital production.Assist in the submissions of awards for the department.Order promotional materials and print materials from VCU approved vendors.Social Media:

Develop and produce multimedia content, including videos, infographics, and animations for each platform.Collaborate with the marketing team to develop content strategies that align with company goals and brand guidelines.Create and assist with content for social media platforms, including writing posts, creating graphics and engaging with the audience.Post regularly on social media platforms and answer questions in a timely fashion.Ensure online content complies with VCU's brand guidelines.Industry Research and Trend Analysis:

Research industry trends and best practices to determine the most effective ways to reach the desired audience.Conduct analysis to understand the needs of the audience and industry trends.Regularly participate in brainstorming sessions to share new design perspectives and ideas.Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or a related field.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro, After Effects).Experience with content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Hootsuite, Buffer).Basic understanding of typography, color theory and layout design.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow design guidelines.Excellent communication skills.Ability to handle multiple projects, stay organized and meet deadlines.Knowledge of social media platforms and best practices.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Portfolio showcasing design projects and creativity.Photography experience.Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.Preferred Qualifications

Experience with motion graphics and video editing software.Knowledge of print production processes.Experience with photography, video production and editing.Understanding of digital marketing.
