Job Overview:The Communications Director is responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic communications efforts of the Library, ensuring cohesive and impactful messaging across all platforms. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this position coaches and develops leaders, manages and coordinates the workflow of assigned staff and leads and provides guidance around organizational initiatives.

DUTIES:

Leads and manages Brand Team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance, professional growth, and a collaborative work environment.Develops and implements comprehensive communication strategies aligned with the Library's mission, goals and strategic priorities.Builds and maintains strong relationships with media outlets and journalists. Oversees media outreach, manages press releases, coordinates media events and represents the Library as the media spokesperson.Develops and implements crisis communications plans. Anticipates and responds promptly to emerging issues and manages communication strategies to mitigate potential risks to the Library.Oversees the creation of high-quality content, including press releases, speeches, articles, and social media posts. Ensures consistency in messaging and adherence to brand guidelines across platforms that engage staff, customers and external stakeholders.Enhances internal communication channels to ensure staff are informed and engaged. Develops and implements strategies for effective internal messaging and staff engagement.Collaborates with external partners and stakeholders to amplify the Library's message and reach.Tracks and analyzes the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns. Provides regular reports and insights to senior leadership on communication performance and impact.Assists in developing and managing department budget, tracking expenditures to ensure financial resources are used effectively.QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrates exceptional leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and a proven track record of managing complex communications initiatives.Proven expertise in strategic planning and execution.Proficiency in media relations, crisis communication, and brand management.Experience with digital marketing and social media platforms.Analytical skills with the ability to measure and report on communication effectiveness.Understands and supports the Library's mission, beliefs, culture, and structure, and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the Library's policies and procedures.Seeks, accepts and incorporates feedback and direction.Possesses the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.Interacts with members of diverse ethnic and socio-economic communities, children, staff and management in a respectful and professional manner that reflects the Library's pillars of excellence.Handles and responds to concerns, complaints, and difficult situations with patience and tact.Demonstrates strong technology skills with the ability and willingness to learn new skills quickly.Demonstrates professionalism in all settings, including an orientation toward teamwork, collaboration & building common ground with peers; arriving to work reliably, regularly, and on time; and behavior that is consistent with building a strong organizational culture, while performing work duties.Demonstrates on-brand customer service to internal and external customers by consistently fulfilling customer needs and expectations.Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts of all colleagues and customers regardless of age, cultural background, ability, ethnicity, family status, gender identity, immigration status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and veteran status.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including formal communication and presentations, editing/proofreading while consistently providing high quality, proactive service to internal and external customers.Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.Ability to maintain confidentiality of customers, peers, and branch/department.EDUCATION and MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.Minimum of 8 - 10 years of experience in communications or public relations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to the Library's insurance provider.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree or relevant certifications preferred.Experience in a public sector Communications role preferred.

JOB LOCATION:Cincinnati, OH, United States

POSITION:Full-time

HOURS:40 hours per week

SALARY:Grade 13: $93,308.80 - $116,625.60 annually
