Position:AVP – Commodities Marketing

Job Purpose:This incumbent will lead the transaction underwriting and portfolio management function in support of the originations team covering a portfolio of commodity clients by managing the credit analysis and risk assessment process, managing interactions with clients and agent banks, liaising with internal teams and approval committees for credit requests, and managing closing process for loans/commitments.

Job Responsibilities:Transaction Underwriting & Portfolio MonitoringOversee the credit analysis and review process for a portfolio of accountsCarry out financial and credit risk analysis based on company, industry, market and competitor researchEvaluate risk aspects of transaction terms and conditions consistent with Bank policiesPrepare credit reports in liaison with account officers and interact with various departments including credit risk and presenting recommendations to approval committeesManage the covenant review and collateral monitoring process for asset-based loansManage a portfolio of accounts maintaining customer files, managing KYC requirements, conduct post-lending monitoring by analyzing interim and annual financials to address periodic reviews or specific client requests while interacting with credit risk and other departments

Managing Client RelationshipsIdentify and originate new client relationshipsIdentify credit needs of the client and determine appropriate product choice to satisfy these needs and obtain credit limits in accordance with the Bank’s guidelinesMaintain active calling schedule and prepare call reportsNegotiate credit agreement, term sheets/pricing/trade confirmations, and monitor clients credit status and business activitiesPrepare credit proposals and conduct financial analysis review for credit proposalsAssess profitability and risk of new loans and other productsCoach junior staff and stay abreast of and analyze the industry and market developments

Product MarketingOriginate business from target/existing clientsDetermine product pricing by utilizing market research data and pricing guidance from the BankCross-sell Bank products and deposit services, identify cross-selling opportunities and improve wallet share and risk/reward ratioProvide updates to management about marketing efforts, deals in pipeline and closed transactions

Compliance and Risk ManagementDevelop new products and onboard new customers in line with the Bank’s risk appetite statementComply with departmental procedures for KYC and Credit Risk Control (including underwriting and post-lending monitoring), Bank policies (such as Credit Risk, Compliance, New Product Management), and applicable laws, including BSA/AML and OFACSet up customer profile and update/review in a timely mannerComply with departmental compliance and risk control procedures when accepting customers’ transactionsDetect red flags/ unusual activities and inform Middle Office, escalating as necessaryKeep abreast of compliance knowledge by attending trainings and seminarsActively identify incidents outside of established policies/ products, and report to management promptly

OtherSupport Middle Office in post lending management of transactions, collateral management and portfolio management issuesMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societiesPrepare presentation materials for training, marketing events and meetingsConduct trainings as needed, and supervise team members to ensure effective credit analysis

Job Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Finance/ Economics/ Accounting/Engineering/ Sciences/ Liberal Arts, MBA preferredAt least 3-5 years of experience, including minimum 2-3 years in investment/commercial banking, 2-3 years in a product manager or relationship manager role, 2-3 years of credit analysis, loan underwriting and portfolio monitoring experience, as well as 2 years of commodity financing experienceDemonstrate excellent communication and relationship management skillsDemonstrate solid financial and credit analysis skills, as well as ability to read, write, analyze and interpret general business documents

The salary range for the AVP position is $65,000-$150,000. Actual salary is commensurate with candidate’s relevant years of experience, skillset, education and other qualifications.
