Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time)Position Description The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at UC Berkeley welcomes applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach undergraduate courses in the following areas:Language (Russian, Polish, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Armenian, Hungarian, or Ukrainian; possible other languages)Reading and Composition (first- and second-year undergraduate writing courses in English on Slavic topics)Slavic Literature and Culture (may include History, Film, Folklore, or other related topics)Language Instruction Coordination, Supervision, and PedagogyGeneral Duties:

In addition to teaching responsibilities, duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials, and interacting with students outside of class time.The department is committed to creating an inclusive environment, supportive of all individuals, regardless of background.Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Completed Master's degree (or equivalent international degree).Additional Qualifications:

For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States is required by the start date of the position.Preferred Qualifications:Completed PhD in Slavic studies (or international equivalent degree) or closely related field strongly preferredFluency in EnglishFluency in the specific foreign language required for this position, if applicableExperience and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level in the U.S.Demonstrated expertise of Slavic literature and cultureApplication Requirements
