Residing in the acclaimed Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts, the music program offers Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Performance and Composition of Classical and Jazz & Commercial music, a BM in Recording and Production, a MM in Conducting and Pedagogy, Master of Arts degrees in Music Theory and Musicology/Ethnomusicology, and other graduate certificates and Artist Diplomas.Position SummaryReporting directly to the Manager of Marketing and Communications of the Lamont School of Music, this position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating multiple aspects of Lamont’s public relations. These include a variety of responsibilities related to public recitals, concerts, and events, running the “Hire a Musician” program, assisting in arranging public service outreach events, and coordinating Lamont student & alumni awards programs.Essential FunctionsDesign, generate, and oversee all printed programs for concerts and events (approx. 300 per year) and archive these files per music licensing requirementsSchedule all student recitals (100-125) and related activities (recital boards, dress rehearsals)Run “Hire a Musician” (gig service for students & alumni: teaching/performing on and off campus)Assist in arranging public service outreach eventsHire, train, supervise, and schedule a student staff of fourManage Lamont’s awards processes (Awards Convocation, Distinguished Alumni Award)Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of musicAble to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingStrong editing and proofreading skillsAble to multi-task, take initiative, and solve problemsAble to work independently with minimal supervisionBroad computer skills that include word processing, spreadsheet, and publishing applicationsExcellent interpersonal skillsRequired QualificationsExperience in musicComputer skills appropriate to the position (see “Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities”)Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in musicTwo or more years of related experience and/or trainingSupervisory experiencePhysical ActivitiesAbility to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.Work ScheduleMonday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work.
