About the Domestic Abuse Project:The Domestic Abuse Project was founded in 1979 with the idea that providing healing services for survivors was vital. Our mission is to build communities free from violence by providing holistic healing for every member of the family. We utilize proven healing modalities through counseling, advocacy, case management, and crisis intervention programs serving victim survivors, children, and individuals who use harm.Job Overview:The Domestic Abuse Project is seeking a motivated and experienced development and communications professional to join the DAP team. The Development and Communications Associate plays a crucial role in the development and communications team by enhancing donor experience through exceptional donor relations, organizational skills, project management, and communications management. The job includes cultivating gifts from individual donors, event planning, and managing our social media pages. This position reports directly to the Director of Advancement and Communication and requires a high level of professionalism, multitasking ability, attention to detail, and a passion for the field of domestic violence.Responsibilities:Fundraising—40%Identify, cultivate, and steward donors who give up to $3,000 annually using various communication tools including emails, letters, social media, phone, and virtual and in-person meetings.Support the agency’s development plan to effectively promote the organization, educate the public, and maximize fundraising efforts via professional communications.Administer and maintain the donor database (Bloomerang).Assist in writing, editing, and executing various campaigns throughout the year, including DAP’s Annual Fundraising Event, Annual Appeal Letter, Giving Tuesday, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Dupont Luminaries.Participate in collaborative grant prospecting, writing, editing, and follow-up reporting as necessary.Maintain all personal information about donors in a confidential and professional manner.Communications and Marketing – 45%Support day-to-day management of social channels (creating content, posting, monitoring and responding to comments and questions, analyzing and reporting campaign results).Stay current on social media trends and platforms, bringing new ideas and recommendations on how to enhance our social presence.Author and create content for DAP’s monthly newsletter (Mailchimp, Canva).Design, maintain, and update content on DAP’s website (Squarespace, Canva).Create communications deliverables consistent with DAP’s brand, including visuals and copy.Help design content for DAP’s various campaigns, including DAP’s Annual Fundraising Event.Event Planning and Management—15%Work collaboratively with the Director of Advancement and Communications to optimize event experiences for attendees, donors, and sponsors.Provide significant event assistance to the Director of Advancement and Communications throughout the year, including logistical planning and communications campaigns.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, continually changing environment.Strong Project Management skills with the ability to manage various work streams with different timelines.Ability to develop strong working relationships with a variety of people.Creativity and innovation in social media engagement materials.Computer proficiency, including word processing, email, Canva, social media, and database programs.Ability to work independently and as a team member.Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work.An outgoing personality, strong work ethic, and experience in a team-oriented environment.Ability to regularly lift weights for events up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 40 lbs.Ability to attend some evening and weekend meetings and events.
