Product Designer

SUMMARYThe Product Designer is responsible for the category level illustrations, graphic design, and product development for product assortments developed for JOANN Stores from theme conceptualization to the execution of technical product specifications. The Product Designer is proficient in a wide variety of techniques, materials, and art styles. Skill set requires a strong drafting, product design, and typographic skills to produce original seasonal and everyday exclusive prints, patterns, and designs for JOANN Stores. This position supports all merchandising areas requiring internal design development at JOANN and will frequently interact with cross functional groups.JOB DUTIESDesign spec art using tech packs to distribute to vendor.Curate shop specific trend and present to cross functional partners and vendor base.Create and procure art assets for creation of shop specific style guides.Picture Park management (upload, archive and manage assets).Asset development and presentation to merchant team.Server maintenance (organize current files and delete old files).EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEEducation Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic/Illustration Design, Fine Arts, or Industrial Design.Experience Minimum: 2+ years of experience in product design or graphic design or related creative role.Experience Preferred: Experience applying own work to a product. Strong portfolio preferred.WORKING CONDITIONSPotential Domestic and International travel.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESStrong sense of urgency and ability to successfully execute multiple tasks simultaneously.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong creative ability/vision in trend and color.Ability to complete daily work with standard supervision.Openness to receive feedback on work and make necessary adjustments to work as needed.Proficient in a Macintosh environment.Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop).Strong typographical design skills.Basic understanding of Fabric, Seasonal Décor, Crafting Industry and related product categories.Ability to research, brainstorm and concept product ideas.This position will be located at: 5555 Darrow Road Hudson, OH 44236.Eligibility for benefits and incentives is dependent upon employment status.
