Job Description - Asst Dean, Strategic Marketing and Communications (24001684)Position Summary:The Assistant Dean for Strategic Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading the marketing and communication strategies and functions of the Fox School and the School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management (STHM). The Assistant Dean will work collaboratively with other Fox and STHM leaders, faculty, and staff to spearhead the creation of an integrated marketing and communications strategy in support of the strategic goals of the schools and in alignment with the university’s brand. The Assistant Dean will be responsible for oversight of tactical implementation of activities designed to reach those goals, as well as assessing the effectiveness of those tactics and activities.The Assistant Dean will serve as a member of the schools’ leadership team (“the Dean’s Team”) and be an active partner engaged in identification of strategic goals, strategic planning, and implementation of those plans. Success in the role requires effective partnership with academic leaders including associate deans and other program leaders, and other functional leads in areas such as student recruiting and retention. Of particular importance is marketing of the schools’ graduate level programs including MBA, MS, Executive MBA, and Executive Doctoral programs.The Assistant Dean will oversee branding for Fox and for STHM, working in close collaboration with the Temple University Vice President for Strategic Marketing and Communication to ensure alignment and synergy between the Temple brand, Fox and STHM brands, and specific program or center sub-brands.Performs other work-related duties as assigned.Required Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field and at least 7 years of related work experience in marketing, public relations, or similar positions. Demonstrated writing experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Required Skills & Abilities:Demonstrated strong writing and communication skillsDemonstrated expertise writing to specific audiences and for various channels (print, web, social, etc.) to accomplish business goalsDemonstrated ability to lead and manage a large teamDemonstrated ability managing a large budgetAbility to interface with internal and external clientsAbility to produce content under tight deadlinesAbility to effectively communicate to a diverse group of individualsAbility to work effectively in a high volume, fast-paced, highly collaborative educational environmentKnowledge of the Microsoft Office suiteFamiliarity with content marketing strategies and working within editorial/content calendarsDesire and ability to think innovatively, bring a fresh voice and perspective, working within brand and editorial style guidelinesPreferred:Masters degree with work experience in higher education.This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.Temple University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all in every aspect of its operations, including employment, service, and educational programs.
