Job Description

Spear Education’s editorial team seeks an experienced Content Writer to join our dynamic crew. This role is crucial for creating written communications for our marketing, content, and product teams. The Content Writer works closely with Project Managers to understand tasks, produce requested content, and collaborate with stakeholders for approval. Additionally, this role will be vital in shaping and maintaining Spear's content strategy, ensuring consistency in voice and tone across all written materials.

We’re looking for a self-directed and enthusiastic team member who can also be happy working as an individual contributor. You must consistently demonstrate integrity, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor. This position works with dedicated editorial professionals (aka, word nerds) who play pivotal roles in shaping and enhancing Spear's educational offerings' quality, consistency, and impact. The quality and effectiveness of educational content are paramount to engaging our audiences, building trust, and achieving our educational mission. The editorial team, reporting through the Marketing Department, addresses several critical needs within the organization:

Content Quality Assurance: The team ensures all content aligns with Spear’s mission and meets the highest standards of accuracy and relevance.

Consistency: The team establishes clear content guidelines and standards to ensure a consistent voice and style across all Spear educational offerings.

Audience Engagement: The team works to enhance the engagement and satisfaction of our audience through data-driven content improvements.

Job Responsibilities:

Supporting the editorial manager by establishing a consistent process for requesting and delivering content.

Meeting production goals and deadlines for assigned content.

Writing website and campaign content that performs using SEO, CTAs, pillar pages, etc.

Refining brand guidelines that reflect voice, tone, and content strategy as needed.

Writing and editing B2B, B2C, and UX copy elements, including articles, captions, headlines/titles, descriptions, learning objectives, discussion questions, implementation plans, reference lists, quizzes, surveys, etc.

Performing content crosschecks, reviews, and proofreading.

Qualifications:

An experienced journalist, business communicator, or plain language expert with 3+ years of previous copywriting experience with demonstrated success required.

An excellent portfolio of copywriting skills in various mediums (blogs, advertising, product info sheets, etc.) is required, as are demonstrating how the content supported business goals.

Ability to accept feedback and direction well and adjust where needed.

Ability to prioritize and self-start tasks effectively to meet goals and deadlines.

Ability to see the big picture as well as the small details.

Knows how to write fresh content, repurpose content, and curate content.

Knows how to remove ambiguity, correct grammar and spelling, ensure consistency, and make deliverables more appealing to the end consumer.

Skilled in plain language communication, writing, editing, organization, listening, problem-solving, and production.

Experience in dental, adult learning/education and/or professional services is a plus but not required.

Additional Information:

The general salary target range for this position in Arizona is $63,000-85,000 per year. However, the base salary offered may increase (or decrease) based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and location.
