Telemundo 48 (KSTS) in San Jose, CA, is currently seeking a

Senior Photographer .Responsibilities:Cover local news and participate in the newsgathering and editorial processOperate camera, sound, lighting, editing equipment and live truck to cover live and taped eventsRespond quickly to breaking news while taking direction and interacting with the assignment desk, reporters/anchors, production, control room, and appropriate Telemundo/NBC personnelOperate station issued equipment to the fullest and within all required safety guidelinesProficient in HD lighting, HD videography, non-linear editing with Avid & Final Cut, Dalet editing, microwave truck operations, editing and feeding from the pit, recording Skype interviews, phone interviews, Live U and DejeroAbility to train Photographers and MMJ’s in lighting, shooting and editing techniquesUnderstand and practice all NBC safety standards and ethicsMaintain equipment and vehicles by doing preventive maintenance and inspectionsTeam with others to produce daily storiesGather compelling video, natural sound and work with others to make sure it makes newscastAt the direction of the assignment desk respond to breaking news obeying all traffic lawsUse courtesy and respect at all times and take extra caution when in the public’s eyeAttend editorial meetings to gain a better understanding of the overall processTake an annual safety trainingBe competitivePerform APC duties or other technical tasks as requestedSome administrative duties will be requiredQualifications

Must adhere to Environmental Health & Safety standards and regulationsAt least 3-5 years experience in a top ten marketMust be able to lift up to 35 pounds of equipment at a given time:Cable Reeler (23 pounds)Omni Kit (33 pounds)Shoulder mount camera (20-25 pounds)TVU, LiveU, Dejero (portable units) – ranging from 11-18 poundsMust be able to stand for at least 2 hours at a time (in breaking news situations, may need to stand for longer periods of time – up to 8 hours)Must be able to operate a live truckSatellite truck operationPortable microwave gear experienceMust be able to maneuver small spaces (in/out of vehicles and to be able to take camera shots in tight spaces)Must be able to sit for up to 2 hours at a time (i.e. for editing purposes)Bilingual: Spanish and English; both written and verbalUnderstanding of emerging news production techniques and technologyMust have good Team Leadership skills and be able to aid with administrative duties.Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24x7 shift and willingness to work long hours and on weekends and holidays with short noticeMust be willing to work in San Jose, CA and surrounding areasMust have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesMust be at least 18 years of ageMust have a valid driver’s license as well as a clean driving recordDesired Characteristics:Strong storytelling, editorial, interpersonal and organizational skillsAbility to work under tight deadlinesAbility to simultaneously shoot, edit and operate an ENG truckKnowledge and ability to operate communication tools and stay connected with the assignment constituencies (i.e. use of email software, cell phone, messaging tools, etc)Works well in a team environmentAdditional Requirements:Required On-Site:
