Student Life Specialist - Promotion and Special Events (PT)

The Student Life Specialist for Promotion and Special Events serves as the primary staff member on campus during the events that may be after hours, off campus and some weekends. Helps to facilitate communications with faculty/staff on the office's operating procedures. Assists in the coordination of event registration, event supervision, creation of all social media and designing marketing materials for the office. Helps guide these groups in providing services and programs designed to enhance, support, and retain college students, with an emphasis of extra attention to those groups who have been traditionally underserved.FLCC is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, and strives to provide an environment that embodies these principles. Bachelors preferred.Experience: One year experience working with students in a college setting (e.g., residential life, student government, campus activities, student clubs/organizations, etc.) required. Preference given for graduate or professional experiences. Experience with large event planning (e.g., orientation) strongly desired.Special Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, design and organizational skills required. Must be able to work cooperatively with college departments and other entities in coordinating co curricular programs. Have a strong background in social media and other promotion/marketing experience.Essential Functions

Programming and Promotion

Assists with the coordination of new student orientation program(s) for traditional and non-traditional students, as well as other target populations (e.g., parents, international, online, and remote students, etc.) in consultation with the Director and Assistant Director.Assists in the distribution of the printed Laker Ledger, contributes to the student eNews, through Constant Contact, online orientation, parent calendar and other publications coordinated through the Office of Student Life and the college.Serves as the primary organizer and lead of evening programs/events on campus and is the primary content creator and lead to our online and remote student populations. Assists with daytime programming events on campus.Co-leads marketing efforts within the Activities Committee of Student Corporation with Assistant Director of Student Life.Collaborates with the Director of Clubs and Organizations to provide a systematic method of communication with the Advisors to clubs and organizations.Meets with the Student Corporation Director of Marketing weekly to assist all student groups.Collaborates with key offices to support the development and coordination of campus programs and services.Sends all student content creation, publications, marketing, and posters to the FLCCDigital Communications Specialist for distribution on all social media and to be placed in college platforms and connects with this person bi-weekly.Collects and reports student programming data for assessment purposes for the Office of Student Life about online, remote, evening and weekend programming.

Supervision

Serves as the Front Desk person responsible for providing general information and referrals to the campus community and external public outside of normal college business hours.Supports the Director and Assistant Director in training, supervising, and evaluating Student Life Office student worker/leaders/employees.

Facilities

Coordinates the physical set-up of facilities (Stage 14, 2nd Floor Hallway and other locations) for all student sponsored programs that occur outside normal college business hours.Manages the FLCC posting policy and the poster approval process for other departments, offices, and student groups.

Other

Work with Assistant Director to maintain and update the Office of Student Life's web pages and the FLCC Digital Communication Specialist on related social media pages.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
