To assist the department of Planning, Design and Construction by providing professional leadership in the planning, programming, design and implementation of architectural projects of all sizes for UMMC. Acts as a liaison with UMMC staff, outside A/E firms, and vendors in the execution of UMMC’s planning, design, and construction program.Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in architecture and four (4) years of architectural project management experience. Prefer two (2) years in an academic medical, healthcare or university experience. Licensed architect preferred.Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:

Valid driver’s license.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstration of proficiency in hospital planning and design; knowledge of design practices and principles and applicable codes and standards. Ability to effectively communicate and meet with end users. Proficiency in Autocad and related software applications; ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to clarify project objectives, goals and the roles and responsibilities of participants and organize and manage resources; strong team player.Responsibilities

Oversee the production of design and working drawings and specifications.Effectively and efficiently utilize graphics and presentation software to delineate planning concepts including but not limited to SketchUp, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, Navisworks, Revit, and PowerPoint.Develop space programs for assigned capital projects as the primary liaison with UMMC departments and user groups.Prepare design and pricing documents for projects, including healthcare, academic, research, and administrative support facilities across UMMC campuses and leased space.Manage outside A/E firms and consultants to ensure work is performed in accordance with UMMC standards and that outside firms implement the needs of the user groups.Assist in the selection and procurement of furniture, fixtures and equipment.Assist construction project managers and real estate team as needed in delivering a project.Coordinate with governing agencies and internal UMMC departments such as Facilities Services, Environmental Health and Safety, Infection Prevention, Division of Information Security, Contracts, Strategic Sourcing, etc.Manage project schedules and budgets for assigned projects.Review and approve design and construction drawings and apply UMMC project delivery processes to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal statutes and regulations.Remain current in codes and regulations, including international building code, NFPA 101, OSHA, ADA, ASHRAE 90.1, SWPPP and other special requirements of the building types associated with an academic medical center.The duties listed are general in nature and are examples of the duties and responsibilities performed and are not meant to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.Physical and Environmental Demands
