The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in Fashion Design. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges' commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.Duties and Responsibilities:Teach FASH 110 - Beginning Clothing Construction. The course description is as follows: Designed to provide an overview of basic sewing techniques, sewing machine skills, and an understanding of fabrics and patterns. The focus is on clothing construction techniques for students with little or no sewing experience.Minimum Qualifications:Any bachelors degree or higher and two years of professional experience

any associate degree and six years of professional experience
OR
the equivalent (see below). The professional experience required must be directly related to this teaching assignment.Ability to work both days and eveningsDemonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staffConditions of Employment:
Prior to employment, the selected candidate will be required to complete the following:Submit official transcripts (applies to all faculty or educational administrative positions)Submit verifications of prior employmentSatisfactory referencesSuccessfully being cleared for employment through the background checking processPresent original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United StatesApproval of your employment by the SMCCCD Board of TrusteesProvide a certificate of Tuberculosis exam for initial employmentHave fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment). Please note that the California Education Code requires, in part, that community college districts shall not employ or retain in employment persons in public school service who have been convicted of certain felonies, a misdemeanor drug charge (including alcohol offenses) or misdemeanor moral turpitude (sexual offense) crime. However, consideration may be given to those whose drug convictions occurred more than five years ago.
