Position Salary:
$150,000 - $200,000 (Depending on Experience) + Bonus
Responsibilities:Provide leadership and direction for a small team of Engineers, Designers and/or Drafters to collaboratively work with various discipline engineering teams, developing substation project design packages.Lead by example, providing mentoring to facilitate growth and development of team members.Develop and foster client relationships built on work excellence, success and integrity.Lead the substation design Team in performing various engineering-related activities related to the creation of design packages, integrating client supplied standards and requirements.As required, serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) in area of expertise, sealing design drawings as required.Routine interaction with internal team members as well as external facing vendors and/or Clients.Development of proposals, scopes, estimates, schedules, and conceptual/feasibility studies to support awarding and execution of projects.Collaboratively work with various discipline engineering teams, working to develop project design packages.Facilitate the development of substation design drawing packages which may include:General Arrangements & Layouts; Elevations & Section Details; Below Grade Conduit Plans & Schedules; Single-Line, Three-Line, Phasing Diagrams, Schematics, Cable Schedules, etc. ; Ground Grid Design & Grounding Details; Bill of Materials (BOM); Lightning Protection Plans/Analysis; and Control Building Layouts & Equipment.Develop bid documents and material specifications.Review vendor submittals and provide analysis/feedback.Generate reports on occasion.Perform work in a timely manner to meet established milestones and/or deadlines.Serve as mentor to other engineers in the group.Provide engineering expertise to develop design solutions and meet client needs.Continual interaction with internal team members as well as external facing vendors and/or Clients.
Requirements:Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program; Higher Education is preferredProfessional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Kansas
(Other States PE is acceptable, can work on Reciprocity)7-10 years of work experience related to Substation Design or related area required.Able to lead and mentor a small team of engineers in a collaborative, team environment.Knowledgeable on applicable codes and industry standards including the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), Rural Utility Service (RUS) Bulletins & applicable IEEE Standards.Proficient with various software packages including AutoCAD, Mathcad, and other design tools.Working knowledge with design tools including Aspen One-Liner, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, Milsoft WindMil/LightTable, WinIGS, & GroundMat desirable.Familiar with rigid bus calculations, bus support design, ground grid design requirements, lightning protection studies/design, electrical aspects including selection of appropriate BIL and strength of insulators, etc.Candidate must possess a mechanical aptitude with knowledge of power system design and operations.Ability to grow and develop customer/client relationships through excellence in work, demonstrating successful execution of projects.Able to manage multiple projects within deadlines and established budgets.Candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills and work effectively with various engineering disciplines & groups within the company, between offices.Candidate must be familiar with project management and scheduling tasks.Ability to use office administrative and collaboration software (MS Office, Teams, etc.) required.Able to work in a collaborative, multi-office, multi-discipline environment.Occasional travel for site visits and client meetings will be required.Strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
