Now Seeking Contracted CAD TechnicianJob Description:
This contract role is responsible for providing support to Process Engineering and Mechanical Engineering design. The CAD Technician will work closely with the department head to coordinate and execute the creation of CAD files for finished parts and assist in the CAD work for the fabrication of tools, fixtures, and other components as required by various groups within State Seal Company. The role also involves controlling all engineering drawings to meet Document Control requirements.
Key Responsibilities:Create 2D and 3D files by reverse engineering customer-provided parts.Generate SSC drawings using customer model/CAD files.Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.Collaborate with tool and fixture vendors to design tooling and fixtures within SSC's budget and vendor capabilities.Gain experience on projects from early concept through production.Develop CAD models of production products and advanced concepts.Review prototype tooling/fixtures for quality and alignment with original design intent.Work with customer design and engineering teams to solve design issues and maintain design intent.Contribute to an evolving design culture and process within the design organization.Improve and revise documents such as production instructions, acceptance test procedures, and bills of material.Identify opportunities to enhance products, production techniques, testing, and business practices to improve cost, manufacturability, quality, reliability, longevity, and marketability.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:Strong communication skills.Ability to work independently and demonstrate a strong work ethic.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Good organizational skills required for project management.Ability to present technical information clearly.Conceptual skills for innovative design solutions.Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, etc.Technical aptitude to analyze engineering drawings and read GD&T callouts.
Experience and Requirements:Experience working in the manufacturing and/or mechanical engineering field.Competency with computer skills and experience in CAD software.Must be a US citizen.
Additional Information:This is a contract role with the potential for extension based on project needs and performance.Compensation will be commensurate with experience and market rates for contract positions.
