Job Description

The Lodging and Event Floral Designer position is responsible for taking and fulfilling guest orders for floral at all Lodging properties. They also support Lodging operations with fresh and permanent displays, fresh plants and holiday enhancements. The Lodging and Event Floral designers position is also responsible for all aspects of executing floral decor for events on Biltmore Estate including weddings, corporate groups, social and internal events. The designers will report to the Lodging and Event Floral Supervisor and coordinate with them to ensure deliverables meet deadlines and exceed expectations.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Designing and delivering fresh arrangements and gift baskets for Lodging guests and groups. Includes answering the phone and taking orders from guests and third parties. Also includes maintaining weekly fresh standing orders.

2. Process fresh floral for use in design work. Includes cleaning buckets and maintaining fresh floral inventory in coolers.

3. Pulling and preparing inventory hard good supplies for use for events. Includes cleaning vases, candleholders, lanterns etc for repeat use.

4. Computer use includes use of company web-based and software platforms used for point-of-sale and managing orders.

5. Design, deliver, install and strike event floral and décor which may include large on-site installations across multiple event venues within Biltmore Estate. 6. Some plant and orchid watering and care.

7. Maintain and organize work, storage spaces, supplies and equipment.

8. Assist with holiday enhancements at both Lodging properties. This can include workshops, design programs, décor, and fresh and silk arrangements. Includes planning, preparing and decorating properties for Christmas.

9. Work overtime and weekends as required by supervisors and manager particularly during event set-up and removal.

Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or GED required. Degree in Horticulture or related field preferred. Related fields could include: Project Management, Hospitality, Art, Interior Design.

2. At least three years of experience in the floral or event industry required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

3. Knowledge of flower varieties and care

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

5. Ability to be proactive and take initiative. Must be able to exercise good judgement and perform duties with little supervision.

6. Ability to work effectively as a team member to meet goals.

7. Strong planning, organizational, and project and time management skills; must be able to multi-task effectively and prioritize under deadlines. Required Certifications (if any):

8. Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old. Must be comfortable driving a cargo van.

Physical Requirments:

1. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds with assistance.

2. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time on hard services. (wood, concrete, brick)

3. Comfortable working on ladders and scaffolding.

4. Ability to work outdoors and inside in all types of weather with fluctuations in temperature and conditions
