About the Company:

Sunrise Brands, LLC is looking for a Senior Technical Designer with Women's Denim and Sportswear Experience to join their DG2 Brand. Time management, strong organizational skills, and managing cross-functional relationships are crucial to this position.

About the Role:

The Senior Technical Designer is responsible for creating garment specifications and standards within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) for specific product categories within the brand. You will own product from the concept (INITIAL STYLE DEVELOPMENT) stage through to the final production approval stage. Technically savvy and a quick study in emerging technology; able to quickly assess and utilize the appropriate response to meet the specific needs of the business. The Senior Technical Designer manages sample fit approvals, risk assessment, calendar and workflow for their specified garment category or categories. This role requires a high level of communication, technical pattern making, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with designers, product development, and production teams to ensure the design vision is executed accurately.Communicate with vendors and manufacturers to address technical specifications and production issues.

Technical Design Oversight:Oversee the creation and maintenance of technical design packages, which include detailed sketches, specifications, and construction details.Review and approve tech packs before they are sent to manufacturers.

Fit and Quality Control:Conduct fit sessions, evaluating garment samples on live models or dress forms to ensure proper fit, drape, and construction.Make recommendations for adjustments and improvements to the garment's fit and construction.

Pattern Development and Grading:Supervise the development and grading of patterns to ensure accurate sizing across all ranges.Ensure patterns are optimized for mass production. (Clo3d pattern editing is a Plus)

Problem-Solving:Address and resolve issues related to garment construction, materials, and manufacturing processes.Troubleshoot production problems and provide technical solutions.

Process Improvement:Implement and refine processes to improve efficiency and accuracy in technical design.Stay updated with the latest technologies and methods in garment construction and production.

Training and Mentorship:Train and mentor junior technical designers, ensuring they adhere to company standards and procedures.Provide guidance and feedback to the technical design team.

Trend Analysis and Innovation:Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in textile technology and garment construction techniques.Incorporate new technologies and innovations into the technical design process.

Documentation and Reporting:Maintain thorough documentation of technical specifications and fit comments.Generate reports on technical design performance and production outcomes.

Cross-Functional Coordination:Coordinate with the design and production teams to ensure materials and trims meet technical specifications.

Qualifications:

8 + years of experience in technical design of apparel with relevant experience in pattern making. Experience with CLO3D highly preferred, but not necessaryBachelor’s degree in Apparel, Technical Design, Patternmaking or a related field is required.Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and Flex PLM experience.Denim Background highly preferredExperience working with overseas teams.Excellent Pattern correction skillsAbility to create a pattern, grade, mark, construct, and fit a garment; write product specs.Experienced in Wovens, Denims and Cut/Sew knits (Denim Bottom is a plus)Experienced in Special sizes

Work Location and Schedule:

This job will require that you work from our office in New York, weekdays during normal business hours.
