Reference Librarian, Part-Time, Lynnfield Public Library (Lynnfield)

The Lynnfield Public Library is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic part-time Reference Librarian to join our team. This position works 12 hours a week in 4 hour shifts, including one evening (Wednesday) a week on the Reference Desk. This position provides a variety of reference services using an automated library circulation system, requiring substantive knowledge of the library’s collections, services, systems, policies and procedures. Responsibilities include answering reference questions for all ages made in person and by telephone, mail, and email, providing a high level of customer service to patrons of all ages and general reference assistance including the following: online catalog and other electronic databases assistance, patron holds, bibliographic instruction, research assistance, reader’sadvisory and assistance in the location, selection, and use of materials. This position also assists in special projects as requiredand assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, or partial completion of relevant course work, or anyequivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Broad knowledge of library principles, methods, materials and practices. Knowledge about and aptitude for automation principles and practices. Enthusiasm for the provision of quality public service. Ability to tactfully and courteously interact with the general public; excellent customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers. Attention to detail. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to communicate professionally.Full/Part Time
