Job Description:

Responsible for planning and conducting interesting large/small group musical-based programs independently, that meet the needs of the adult, geriatric and dementia population as well as age-specific

Will utilize the latest musical techniques and methodologies in programming and assist in contributing ideas to the program calendar

Facilitate independent/one to one Music Therapy sessions

Monitor inventory of musical supplies as needed to carry out programs

Transport residents to/from group music programs

Documentation of program attendance

Assists in developing and planning special musical events

Encourage residents to attend programs regularly to improve their quality of life

Set up & clean up of activity programs

Familiar with a variety of instruments and is able to teach these to the residents.

Represents the organization professionally.

Promptly reports all needs and concerns to Supervisor or designated alternate.

Interacts positively with residents, family members, personnel and visitors under a variety of conditions and circumstances.

Qualifications as a

Music Therapist

:

Board Certified Music Therapist and/or Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy or equivalent

At least 2 years’ experience as a Music Therapist working in a Therapeutic Recreation setting (preferred)

Pleasant singing voice and proficient on piano/guitar

Familiar with a variety of instruments and ability to teach to the residents

Ability to work well with others in a team environment

Ability to deal with difficult behaviors

The ability to push, pull, lift a minimum of 50lbs or more.

Must be fully vaccinated

Shift: Part Time, Sun-Mon 10am-4:30pm
