In 2017 Race Forward united with the Center for Social Inclusion to become the new Race Forward.Position SummaryThe Graphic Designer will support Race Forward's brand and communications. This role includes conceptual development, design for print and web, and close coordination with the Head of Graphic Design, the Communications team, and across the organization.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCreate visual assets for Race Forward's programs, products, events, and campaigns that depict Race Forward's mission and vision.Support the design of materials including social media graphics, publication layout, online and in-person event necessities such as environmental graphics (signage and banners), web platform graphics, products and apparel that reflect the images and identities of Race Forward and its divisions-the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) and Colorlines.Assist in finding and optimizing quality images for a variety of design projects.Research and liaise with socially responsible production vendorsCarry projects through production and delivery phaseManage digital assets on file serversCollaborate closely with team members, Race Forward staff across departments, and external partners to craft designs that effectively reach specific audiences.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesTo perform successfully in this role, incumbent should possess skills identified below:Excellent visual communication and composition skills.Typographic expertise.Ability to manage a project from conception through production in print or web formats.Excellent time management and organizational, multi-tasking skills.Ability to work independently and as a team player.Good communication skills (written and verbal), creativity, energy, and enthusiasm.Interest in and basic knowledge of the movement for Racial Justice and racial history of the United States is a plus.Comfortable in a fast-paced, diverse work environment.Qualifications and Experience3+ years working in graphic design.Formal training in communications/graphic design.Experience in editorial design, typography, design theory, color theory.Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.Knowledge of basic HTML.Working knowledge of photography (composition, quality, editorial value).Experience in preparing photos and graphics to be web ready. 2-3 years' experience with print production.2-3 years' experience working collaboratively with web developers on user interface projects.Strong background in branding.Experience with motion graphics or illustration is a plus.Additional InformationRequires long periods of sitting, working on computer and may occasionally require carrying heavy equipment.Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.How to ApplyExternal Applicants: To apply for this position, please click the link below.
