Job Description:

UI/UX Human Centered Design Specialist (SharePoint Focus)

GDIT has an opportunity for a dynamic and talented candidate to join our team supporting the Administrative Office of the US Courts (AOUSC) Case Management Systems Office (CMSO) in its modernization effort for one of its mission-critical applications that is used by all U.S. district and appellate courts’ staff members and external stakeholders. CMSO has a mature agile practice using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and supports a broad range of complex business systems which are instrumental to the AOUSC mission.

Contribute to user experience (UX) design direction and strategy, specifically within the SharePoint environment, considering its capabilities and limitations.

Create and maintain documentation for activities, recommendations, and decisions.

Apply knowledge in User Experience Design (e.g., Human Centered Design, User Research, User Personas, User Journeys, Prototyping, Design Mock-ups, and Evaluating Usability) as it relates to SharePoint solutions.

Assist in creating and delivering User Experience (UX) Research Plans and Outcomes for each use case, including research write-ups documenting goals, anticipated outcomes, research questions, methodologies, and next steps. Apply appropriate research methods for gathering insights from SharePoint users.

Participate in discovery activities, including generative research with users and business stakeholders, assessment of current related features within SharePoint, and content review considering SharePoint's structure.

Conduct user experience research studies to understand users' goals, needs, journeys, and pain points with respect to their interaction with SharePoint.

Collaborate with Product Teams to ensure that new tools or services fit into the existing structure within the SharePoint ecosystem.

Apply insights from user experience research studies to describe product functionality within SharePoint, including contributing to epics and user stories.

Support design synthesis activities and help generate insights for improvement. Communicate research findings through various formats (such as insight reports, stories, storyboards, etc.) to maximize relevance and impact.

Assist in requirements analysis based on User Experience Research, obtaining stakeholder input from internal and external users of SharePoint.

Develop User Personas to represent user types that have wants and needs related to SharePoint.

Create Customer and User Journey Maps specific to SharePoint interactions and capture related data.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, developers, and other designers, to ensure a cohesive SharePoint user experience.

Conduct usability testing sessions to gather feedback on SharePoint designs and apply results to refine designs.

Create prototypes within SharePoint or using SharePoint-compatible tools to help visualize design concepts.

Contribute to writing and editing plain language content for Development Teams working on SharePoint features.

Help maintain consistency and continuity in CMSO within SharePoint, including page layout, menus and navigation, and user flows.

Craft and deploy design deliverables, including wireframes, low-fidelity prototypes, or interactive web forms specifically for SharePoint to facilitate usability testing and agile development.

Create and update prototypes to conduct facilitated demos or usability testing within SharePoint to elicit feedback for improvements to the design.

Develop designs that adhere to the U.S. Web Design System.

Provide User Experience (UX) Designs that include, as necessary:

Low-Fidelity Mockups for each use case within SharePoint

UX and Usability test cases specific to SharePoint

Prototypes demonstrating SharePoint interactions

Updates to supporting artifacts to reflect sprint backlog

Customer and User Journey Maps within SharePoint

User Personas

UX Testing Results

Usability and User Research Results

Basic Design Specifications, including Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) and design frameworks for SharePoint development teams.

Use tools like Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio and Figma provided by the AO.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of

five (5)

years of professional experience in a user-focused production environment, with experience designing for SharePoint.

Familiarity with UX, content strategy, and best practices in user-centered design.

Knowledge of user-centered design processes and methodology.

Experience with Interaction Design and basic interaction modeling.

Ability to create user scenarios, user flows, and low-fidelity wireframes.

Proficiency in wireframing and/or prototyping tools and methodologies.

Experience in designing web apps and mobile solutions for enterprise platforms, preferably SharePoint.

Ability to contribute to product strategy and vision discussions.

Experience in user research, user interviews, surveys, and usability studies. Ability to create personas and user journey maps.

Basic experience in UX analysis to conduct heuristic evaluations.

Understanding of web analytics and feedback data to inform design decisions.

Experience in conducting usability tests, including test script development, data collection, and providing design improvement recommendations.

Good communication and presentation skills.

Experience in Adobe XD, Axure, Balsamiq, Invision, UXPin, InDesign, Sketch, or Figma.

Familiarity with usability testing tools.

The likely salary range for this position is $76,690 - $92,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
