Position Overview

Triangle’s Advancement & Communications department is tasked with the organization’s fundraising, events management, digital and print communications, and a variety of operational support roles that help the rest of the organization flourish in meeting our mission. This team is built of flexible individuals with specialized skill sets that can empower Triangle during its Five-Year Strategic Growth Plan.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Development Operations, the Communications Manager will be responsible for writing outward-facing communications, including copy for Triangle’s website, blog, informational flyers, and press releases, while also developing boilerplate copy for grant requests and event sponsorships. During a time of organizational growth, building a familiarity with the organizations high-priority initiatives will be vital to creating compelling and effective pieces for a variety of stakeholder audiences. Additionally, the Communications Manager will be responsible for a range of duties in support of the Advancement & Communications team, including fundraising event support, and the organization as a whole and will be expected to develop and implement new procedures to ensure that the organization is being represented appropriately and equitably to the public across all channels.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate early in their career who is looking to take on more editorial and strategic oversight in collaboration with a small but mighty team of communications and development professionals. Triangle has several programs operating across the Commonwealth providing a wide range of services to people with disabilities, impacting more than 2,000 people each year. This position will be hybrid with the expectation that a minimum of two days per week will be spent in the office unless more onsite work is preferred. We are also happy to provide accommodation to this policy if personal circumstance warrants additional remote work. The onsite location for this position will be determined based on the candidate’s needs. Triangle operates sites in Boston, Malden, Randolph, and Salem, which are all potential locations of onsite working hours.

Due to the nature of this role, please note that two writing samples and/or a link to an online portfolio of past work will be expected after an initial screening interview.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Possess a positive attitude and outgoing nature that will foster strong relationships with colleagues and organizational supporters/partners.

Develop and maintain relationships with program staff members from across the organization to regularly gather success stories, program metrics, and innovative new program developments that will fuel the Advancement & Communications team’s efforts when communicating to families, partners, donors, and champions in the community.

Oversee social media strategy, including creating posts/content, maintaining a posting schedule, tracking performance metrics, and reporting out to colleagues.

Produce timely pieces such as blog posts, social media posts, annual report information, email newsletters, fundraising appeal letters, and fundraising event materials.

Create, maintain, and update the content for all outward-facing marketing materials, including website copy, flyers, and one-pagers.

Create and coordinate email newsletter to various Triangle stakeholder groups (Parents/Guardians, Schools/Municipalities, Donors, etc.) using Constant Contact

Assist other departments by coordinating e-newsletters and informational emails using Constant Contact

Develop language used for strategic grant proposals and sponsorship requests ahead of fundraising events with the potential to take on additional grant writing duties.

Oversee the process of obtaining and tracking image consents from program participants to ensure compliance standards with all funding and program partners.

Manage relationship with Triangle’s public relations team (a contracted-firm outside of the organization) to produce timely and appropriate pitches to local/regional media outlets.

Work as part of the team to mitigate any form of bias and ensure that all written and visual materials reflect, promote, and embrace the current and growing diversity, equity, and inclusion of the organization and the people/communities that it serves.

Familiarity/sufficiency with basic design concepts and platforms a plus but not a required

Gather information for all the organization’s online organization profiles, such as GuideStar, to ensure up-to-date and accurate public-facing metrics.

Assist with event preparation, solicitation of auction items/donated products, set up, and coverage, including two large fundraising events and at least three smaller community engagement events.

Qualifications

2-3 years of experience in communications field with preference for experience overseeing social media channels, website copy, marketing language, grant language, and/or original blog/content development – or the ability to demonstrate transferable skills from other professional/education experiences.

Associate degree, BA/BS, or equivalent work experience

Experience incorporating and ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion and are reflected and well-presented in written and visual content and reviewing for potential bias.

Models’ ideal customer service and high moral standards when interacting with colleagues and with Triangle, Inc.’s many constituencies, including clients and participants.

Familiarity with website management platforms such as WordPress or similar systems (Squarespace or Wix) preferred.

Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact or similar systems (Mail Chimp) preferred.

Must be system- and detail-oriented as part of a team that is tasked with communicating complex messages to the organization’s key stakeholder groups.

Flexible and efficient time management skills

Excellent computer skills, including all Microsoft Office programs and Google Suite

Language Skills

Ability to verbally communicate.

Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and write documents.

Ability to respond and navigate common inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies or family members.

Bilingual candidates are highly desirable to help fortify our efforts to create content for community members who do not speak/read English.

Compensation & Benefits

The middle of the anticipated salary range for this position is $50,000 with the ability to be flexible based on the candidate’s experiences as related to the position.
